01. “Gangsta’s Prayer”
Title track… >>> Feelin’ tha West Coast vibe in tha beginning… Here you are at “24;” I was “24” four years ago, which was a great life. I thought I was gon be a news reporter / photog-editor, which I’m still strivin’ for. However, they ain’t believe in me so I’m just at a minimum wage-payin’ job… “My 9 to 5 iz how I stay alive;” you nailed it! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, here, holdin’ shit down! Tha hook’s pretty nice; hood shit at its finest! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you keepin’ it gangsta, here; can’t deny it! Tha 3rd verse’s kickin’ it off wit dem “gat” shots, here, strictly keepin’ it gangsta! Even tha “infrared!” My Rating: 4.1

02. “Something To Ride”
>>> “Something to ride to, to get high to;” nice hook!! Beat’s cool; diggin’ it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it has a smooth, throwback Trae-like sound ta it, with tha voice… Now, it’s tha regular voice and it’s soundin’ aight… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s straight, too; can’t deny it… Tha 3rd verse sounds like a different dude, here, comin’ through wit some nice shit fa tha south… “You can be an ace but I’m a mothafuckin’ joker;” dope!! My Rating: 3.9

½time: A 4.0-rated release, so far; can’t deny it…

01. Ready II Die
>>> Lol, just a five-second intro…; get ready fa dis gangsta shit! My Rating: N/A

02. “Mass Murder”
>>> Feelin’ tha beat, as it’s undaground and jammin’, at tha same time. Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse and you got this shit on lock! Feelin’ how you holdin’ tha south down! Tha Xandria! Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty anthemic about tha “shot!” Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and you have tha consistent, gangsta rhymes on lock, here! Definitely diggin’ what you bringin’ to tha table! Tight, acapella shit from 2:27 – 2:31! Tha 3rd verse pretty gutta, too; “it just won’t stop!” My Rating: 4.5

03. “Crunk”
Yeah! >>> Despite tha title, it’s laidback, here, but I’m feelin’ it! Nice lil’ slow beat throughout tha track, here, and tha 1st verse’s pretty nice! Feelin’ how it almost sounds like you deliverin’ a paranoid-type flow, here, with tha lyrics! Even down to tha hook: I’m diggin’ it, despite it bein’ so opposite of “crunk,” lol! Really diggin’ it! I luv bein’ “crunk,” I luv bein’ “high,” I luv bein’ anything positive! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ nice ta hear, too… Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too! “What chu gon do when tha weed run out?” I know, right? You know how it be when you have a stressful job! Gotta shmoke in moderation! How’d I go nine dayz without, so far? Dem reviewz, lol! Still, workin’ six dayz a week, you need sum’n, sum’n!! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse and “five blunts.” That sounds nice but nothin’ like chillin’ wit this 49-year-old chick I know! We shmoked 6 ½ bowls on August 18, in honor of my boy, Percy Keith’s birthday (Baton Rouge rapper)!! Undeniable!! I think she shmoked one bowl more than me ‘cause I had a headache that day!! Yeah, I’m outdone, at times! Great job wit tha verse, tho! My Rating: 4.7

04. Without Sin
[No preview due to it played without me knowin’…] >>> Nice; great way ta lead inta “No Love”!! My Rating: N/A

½time: Excellent, dark, gangsta release, here! A 4.6-rated tape, so far!! Gotta luv how you handle tha tracks!! You know what I be diggin’, ya dig?!

05. “No Love”
>>> “Love” tha beginning with tha singin’ of tha title!! I remember radio-editin’ this! Definitely luvin’ tha dark beat, here!! Tha 1st verse’s jammin’; makes me miss my radio show! Tha dark vibe! Tha dark station!! Can’t believe it’s been over four years!! Anotha rapper like Busta Rhymes, strictly hooked on dat “Courvoisier!!” Lol!! Tha actual hook sounds decent, here; feelin’ tha uncredited singer! Tha 2nd verse’s nice; crazy wit tha “J-O-B!” Sometimes, it always makes me think, I wish I had my freedom back, instead of tha “J-O-B!” We’ll let time tell dat! My Rating: 4.6

06. “So Real”
>>> Beat’s nice and laidback; gotta feel it! These “rules” remind me of Biggie or somethin’; keep it goin’ wit tha 1st verse! Tha hook’s catchy with tha singer, once again, holdin’ shit down! When I hear or see tha word, “Real,” I always think of my ex-connect, DJ B-“Real!” Always miss him every fuckin’ day and wish he would unblock me/reconnect wit me, already!! Anyway, keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 2nd verse, here, and it’s soundin’ nice, too… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse and it’s soundin’ nice, as well; undeniable…! My Rating: 4.4

07. “Dream Of Death”
It’s sad how ever since my brother died, last year, this iz sadly what goes through my mind, especially while high! Time’s flyin’!! I’m fuckin’ 28!! >>> I can agree with my paranoia and tha vibe in tha beat, here! Definitely sounds nice and dark! Gotta luv how tha 1st verse sounds! Definitely feelin’ your “drug dealers” “reality” that you be dealin’ with! I wish I was high reviewin’ this! I’m shmokin’ wit a chick 2morrow in 24 hours & 4 minutes, lol (7:05 PM)! I’m just in a hurry ta get these reviewz done while I work six dayz a week and do other shit, too (playlists, uploads, etc.)! Hook’s just a beat; definitely feelin’ it!! Tha 2nd verse sounds like an uncredited feature? Either way, definitely excellent with how it sounds!! “Little does he know…;” excellent emotion at 2:38!!! Diggin’ this long-ass verse!! So glad it’s long and doesn’t end, too! This that quality shit that’s long! Like, really? It’s 6:03? Doesn’t seem like it!! My Rating: 4.8

08. “Breakdown”
>>> Back to tha laidback shit and I’m definitely feelin’ this slow hook! Definitely dat quality shit while high, ya know?! “Picture me paranoid;” excellent way ta describe tha 1st verse!! Would I be afraid of tha clowns that are out, now? My move: Just keep it movin’! Don’t worry ‘bout shiiiiiit!! Only one verse? Really held it down fa only one!! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Ain’t expect it ta end so fast, due to I thought there was anotha track, lol! But, definitely one of tha best releases I’ve reviewed recently, outta my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon!! Luved tha dark vibes, tha intense shit goin’ on, tha rhymes you brought to tha table & everythang else! Great job, Doobie Smoov! I know there’s anotha CD/tape of yours in my marathon, during tha ‘90s! Can’t wait ta review it! I know you still grindin’; keep it up!!

01. “Skills Of A Scholar”
>>> This sounds nice fa tha rhymes and tha beat ain’t too bad fa an undaground, dark beat… My Rating: 4.1

02. “Back To The Hood”
>>> Tha hook sounds nice with tha lady on it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse over this decent beat and it ain’t too bad… Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, here, as well… Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and it ain’t too bad, as well; decent track… My Rating: 3.7

03. “Divide & Conquer”
Title track… >>> Beat sounds a lil’ betta, here… Can this track hold up fa 5:50? Feelin’ tha laidback vibe fa tha beat and your rhymes on tha 1st verse; nice shit… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s cool with this unknown singer; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s keepin’ this story of tha hood comin’ along… Tha 3rd verse sounds good with your story, once again; nice… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Conduct Unbecoming”
>>> Anotha nice-soundin’ undaground beat, here, more on tha G-Funk side! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds like you deliverin’ them nice rhymes fa tha streetz; good shit! Tha singin’ on tha hook between tha dude and tha chick has tha ‘90s written all over it, with tha vibe; good shit! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, here; can’t complain about this shit… And, tha 3rd verse keeps this shit goin’ and goin’… My Rating: 4.2

05. “Freestyle”
>>> Even if you “fuck up 20x,” it’s all good. Tha beat’s pretty much tha same as tha previous one, lol. Hearin’ this and it ain’t bad…; decent verse, freestylin’… Lol @ “funky-ass cunts;” neva hear “cunt” in rap music, so that’s a plus! My Rating: 3.9

01. Take Fo Intro
>>> Bouncin’ at its finest! Props for “Jubilee All”in’, lol! My Rating: N/A

02. “Jubilee All (Stop Pause)”
Lol! I know this one and have reviewed it in tha past! All tha dances are unbelievable!! Neva forget October 16, 2010, where I did them dances in tha radio station I was at, at my college! My Current Rating: 4.9

03. “The Cartoon Crew”
>>> Lol, “Jubilee All”, Part 2? “Do tha Barney Bounce…;” “do tha Baby Bop…;” nice! “Do tha Miss Piggy…;” do tha Kermit the Frog…;” “do tha Big Bird…;” “do tha Bugs Bunny…;” “Do tha Scooby Doo…;” “do tha Donald Duck…;” “do tha Tom & Jerry…;” “do tha Almond…” (can’t catch tha name, lol!); “do tha Little Smurfs…;” “do tha Mickey Mouse…;” “do tha Street Fighter;” luv it!!!!! My Rating: 4.7

04. “On The Map”
>>> This ain’t too bad, but at least y’all partyin’! Beat simple and plain but tha party tha best! This iz really long (6:29), so it’s just draggin’… My Rating: 3.0

05. “Go Go Bounce”
>>> Beat has a Mardi Gras feel to it; let’s see how this goes… It doesn’t give me tha same vibe as tha “Jubilee All” or tha “The Cartoon Crew” tracks, with tha dances… To me, it’s just an ongoin’ track… My Rating: 3.3

½time: A 4.0-rated release, so far; I’m mainly impressed by tha dances…

06. “Bootin’ Up (Extended Club Mix)”
Since it’s a long one, I gotta go shit, while it’s gettin’ colder out, now. I’m gonna save time by reviewin’/figurin’ out what I think of it while I shit… >>> A nice, long bounce intro beat… Mainly just a repeatin’ hook, here, with this title part… Wow, that shit was raw; my asshole on fire, lol! My Rating: 3.7

07. “We Made That”
>>> Decent start; kinda gets me excited with Jubilee in tha beginning, here… Beats are rotatin’ in tha mix, here; not bad… My Rating: 3.5

08. “Another Story To Tell (Club Mix)”
Let’s see how this club mix gon flow and how long it gon take… >>> Yeah, I agree. “Fuck singin’ to dem hoes…;” intro had me wonderin’… Now, tha bounce beat’s here and y’all holdin’ it down… I’ono, but since tha 1st tracks passed, this CD’s been mainly borin’ me… Some tracks are too long and there’s not much goin’ on wit all tha partyin’, at times… My Rating: 3.1

09. “Mob On A Mission”
Anotha long one… >>> Again, decent; just rappin’ fa tha N’awlinz but still, it’s long… My Rating: 3.2

10. “Barney All”
Oh, boy! And, it’s 8:30 on tha length? Hope it’s like “Jubilee All”, lol. >>> It’s really “Jubilee All”? Sounds like it in tha beginning… Beat sounds different, this time… Yeah, this sounds just like it, only with more of a different bounce beat… I liked tha other version better, but I’ll be generous with this rating… My Rating: 4.5

11. “YuDoMeLikDat”
>>> Female rappin’, here… I’ono, but tha rappin’ was aight, but I’m feelin’ how tha hook sounds with tha eerie beat! Tha 3rd verse iz Jubilee and it sounds nice; diggin’ tha combination of tha female and Jubilee! My Rating: 4.3

Overall: Tha beginning started off with really-high ratings but then, it got below-average/decent on me… Too many long tracks and non-stop chantin’, at times. Sometimes, excellent beats can save this. Either way, not a bad release, overall, as there was a save on tha last two tracks…

Rankings:

10.       “On The Map” 3.0
09.       “Another Story To Tell (Club Mix)” 3.1

01. “Hustlers”
>>> Bounce vibe in tha vocals, here, even tho tha beat’s kinda plain with some samples… “My name iz Soulja Slim;” this ain’t tha “Soulja Slim” we know, do we? I ain’t read anythang about it… Either way, definitely diggin’ tha rhymes and tha beat y’all samplin’, here! My Rating: 4.2

02. “Goose Thang”
! >>> Feelin’ tha G-Funk beat start with those female vocals in tha background… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s pretty nice. Thought this would be a gangsta-like track but it’s soundin’ bounce-y… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty crazy and consistent on tha rhymes, bounce style… And, tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ nice, too… And, tha rest of this held it down, too… My Rating: 4.0

03. “P-Poppers”
>>> Beat sounds old-like, like “Paid In Full” or somethin’… Hearin’ tha hook and it ain’t too bad; this could prolly use a bounce vibe… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and tha beat’s still a lil’ plain ta rap on… Tha rappin’ good but it ain’t tha best from what I’ve heard, on this tape… Tha 2nd verse soundin’ a lil’ betta, here, keepin’ it southern… My Rating: 3.6

04. “Chronic (Pt. 1)”
A longer track… >>> Even sappier with tha beat, here, with a blues singer in tha beginning? I like that it’s about “chronic” and gettin’ “higher,” but I’m not feelin’ this vibe at all! My Rating: 2.1

05. “Everyday Weed Head”
Can it be normal, this time?? >>> Sounds much betta with tha vocal flow and tha beginning… Tha beat start with tha hi-hats got me excited fa somethin’ but it’s just a regular bounce vibe, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it ain’t too bad… I’ono why, but I thought that rhymed nicely: “Smokin’ dat herb from dat 3rd.” I’m diggin’ how tha near-end sounds like a “weed” anthem, fa sho! “I’mma keep smokin’ weed until tha day I die! ’96 to ’97, ’98 to ’99;” just tha ‘90s, lol? My Rating: 4.4

½time: A nice lil’ undaground release, with tha exception of #04… I’m diggin’ how y’all comin’ through with tha bounce vibes, even tho I expected more G-shit… It’s still gangsta, but more in tha beats than bounce… A 3.7-rated tape, so far…; let’s see what’s next!

06. “Goose Thang (Radio)”
Ain’t even realize it was a radio edit while I was writin’ tha ½time… See #2 fa tha review!

07. “P-Poppers (Radio)”
See #3 fa tha review!

08. “Hustlers”
Just a repeat song, clean or not? See #1 fa tha review!

09. “Chronic (Pt. 2)”
I can’t imagine… >>> Ugh…! Ta me, this an interlude, but because of tha singin’, I count it as a track… I like that y’all were “smokin’ when tha school bell rang,” tho. Was gonna get inta this more toward tha end but when it got to “Mary Had A Little Lamb” and “Jack & Jill,” I was thinkin’, “Fuck this!” My Rating: 2.4

10. “Everyday Weed Head”
Here we are, again… See #5 fa tha review!

Overall: Ended much quicker than I expected… A few repeat songs and radio edits ta make this shorter… Anyway, great job fa a lil’ bounce release, despite me not feelin’ those “Chronic” tracks/interludes… I thought this was gon be more gangsta in tha beats, but it’s still not bad… Still, tha “Chronic” shit knocked down tha CD rating 6/10’s of a point!!

Rankings:

06.       “Chronic (Pt. 1)” 2.1
05.       “Chronic (Pt. 2)” 2.4
04.       “P-Poppers” 3.6

01. “Fuck Bein’ Faithful”
>>> A lil’ “Lean On Me” bass in tha background of tha beat, here; let’s see how this goes… A lil’ catchy on tha hook, here; gotta “fuck bein’ faithful!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice… Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ this bounce vibe goin’… And, we got tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice and consistent fa this bounce vibe, as well… I’ono, but with this “Lean On Me” bass, I feel like this a guilty pleasure… My Rating: 4.3

02. “Story Tell”
>>> Nice lil’ Mardi Gras/bounce beat vibe, here… Hearin’ tha verse and it’s soundin’ nice wit you wantin’ all these “outfits.” My Rating: 4.0

03. “Keep It On The Real”
>>> Sounds like it gon be a soul/bounce vibe, based off tha beat start? Yeah, kinda sounds like “it, on the” hook… A short 1st verse, here, as you’re keepin’ this bounce vibe goin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s pretty catchy; bouncers must luv you! Tha 3rd verse pretty nice here, too… My Rating: 3.9

04. “Young Girls”
>>> More of that “soul-bounce,” as I call it… So far, a decent vibe off this beat and tha 1st verse, here, goin’ through life… Hearin’ tha hook and yeah, “why” do people “wanna grow up so fast?” Glad I’m “growin’ up” slow at 28, even tho I feel like it’s goin’ real fast, now, without my brother here… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s keepin’ this shit goin’… My Rating: 3.7

05. “Shake That Ass”
>>> More bounce anthems… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s soundin’ nice; an “ass”-shaker anthem… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s fulla fun; can’t deny it… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and tha chants are keepin’ this goin’! Tha rest of this was pretty nice, as well… My Rating: 3.8

½time: Great lil’ consistent CD fa dem bounce luvaz, here; great job! A 3.9-rated CD, here…

06. “Roll Call”
>>> Diggin’ you with this bounce “roll call,” namin’ err-body! Nice job with your flow on this one; beat’s pretty nice, too… My Rating: 3.8

07. “Represent”
>>> A “twerk” anthem, here, as tha beat’s even crazier fa dem bounce luvaz! Nice job wit tha crazy hook! We have 5:50 on tha length, this time, compared to tha shorter songs; let’s see if it can hold up! Nice job wit tha 1st verse, too, strictly chantin’ random party chants, here… Sometimes, I can’t tell if I’m on a verse or tha hook, here; it’s consistently crazy, lol… Tha “eat my pussy” shit later got remade in 2011 by Mz. TeQui; can’t believe that was five years ago… My Rating: 4.2

Review #1,552: Big Mafia "Sometimers"

Reviewed on 9.28.2016 (Review #1,552)

Keepin’ this shit goin’, here comes Big Mafia Sometimers, released in 1996 on Ditty Boo Records! Start Time: 4:13 PM | End Time: 4:47 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> “ iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> “ iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Intro
>>> Beat sounds nice, simple & funky, a lil’…; not bad fa an “intro…” My Rating: N/A

02. “17th Comin’ Up”
>>> Beat sounds decent… Kickin’ it off wit tha hook, here, and it’s definitely representin’ fa tha ward of tha “17th,” here; dope… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; not bad, overall… It almost sounds like some1’s joinin’ you on tha 1st verse? Tha dude on tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse sounds like a Juvenile or somethin’… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it ain’t too bad, here… Again, it sounds like you’re joinin’ with that Juvenile-soundin’ dude… My Rating: 4.0

03. “Sometimers”
A long title track, here… >>> Even tho a lil’ plain, I’m definitely diggin’ tha organ or whateva beat sound’s flowin’ ova this beat… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m diggin’ how you sound like a 200-pound dude, here, holdin’ shit down! “Today, they be your friends; tomorrow, your enemies…” I think that’s an excellent line! Had somethin’ like that happen today wit some1 in tha music biz. I had been cool wit them fa six years and now, when I seen them reconnect wit one dude (DJ B-Real) that I wanted ta reconnect wit, I asked him how he did it. He answered me quick but then, quickly stopped answerin’ me about helpin’ me wit tha situation. He wound up blockin’ me on Instagram last night, like, what? He copied what tha one dude did ta me! WTF? Dude done changed…; whateva… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ great, too, with these consistent rhymes fa da gangstaz! Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through nicely, as always! My Rating: 4.2

04. “Drastic Life”
>>> Nice beginning beat and it sounds nice and dark, here… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s definitely nice, “tryna” dodge tha “problems!” Really, my only problem iz gettin’ free time, at tha moment! Also, “tryna” avoid drama at my job! Those two thangz need ta get solved! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; can’t deny this one! Tha 2nd verse’s keepin’ this G-shit continuin’, consistently! Nice job wit tha rest of this joint, too! Endin’ with tha nice beat from tha beginning, here! My Rating: 4.4

05. “Down Since ‘99”
I thought it was ’95? >>> Sounds like a nice intro and hook… Tha beat’s pretty nice, slow & dark… Nice job wit tha 1st verse; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s a nice scene fa tha gangstaz, in tha dark! Mo gangsta shit comin’ outta tha 3rd verse, here; can’t deny it! Even down ta spankin’ they “ass!” My Rating: 4.2

½time: So far, so good; quality at its finest fa tha undaground, here! A 4.2-rated release; let’s keep it dark and goin’!

06. “Neighborhood Assassin”
>>> Nice! Catchy hook, here, keepin’ it real ova this beat! It’s all about dat quality gangsta shit! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and we got shit goin’, here… Here we are wit a 2nd verse, here, spittin’ some nice shit, of course! Tha 3rd verse’s keepin’ this shit goin’, too, consistently… Still more than two minutes remainin’ and it sounds like we’re yada-yadain’ with tha random vocals…; long outro? Yeah, but it still a nice track… My Rating: 4.3

07. The Search (Part 1)
Nice title…! >>> Oh, just a short lil’ interlude, here… Nice lil’ interlude, just like tha intro! My Rating: N/A

08. “Mafia Style”
I know y’all got a CD by this name? >>> Diggin’ tha West Coast-y beat, includin’ tha undaground sounds in tha background! Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; lovin’ tha beat! It’s so strong, it can make ya sick, lol! It just goes through ya!! Imagine hearin’ this while high?! Tha hook? Umm…, just talkin’? Nice with “fantabulous,” a combination of “fantastic” and “fabulous;” dope! After a long-ass interlude after tha 1st verse, we have tha 2nd verse at 3:13 and it’s soundin’ nice… Oh wait, what a short verse, lol? Really dug tha beat but there wasn’t much poppin’ with everything after tha 1st verse… My Rating: 4.0

09. “Sometimers (Radio)”
See #3 fa tha review!

10. “LJ Growing Up In The Big Easy”
>>> Beat’s pretty nice, here, and y’all got shit on-n-poppin’ wit tha 1st verse; gangsta shit! Tha hook’s nice ta hear with tha beat; just a title… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds like some nice, southern shit; gotta respeck it! Great job keepin’ this shit on-n-poppin’! It’s all about “The Big Easy!” My Rating: 4.1

Overall: Even tho I’ve heard better, I thought this was a nice, consistent release! All tha tracks had at least a 4.0, so you’re 5.0’d by me! Great job wit tha production and you had tha rhymes on-n-poppin’!
