Review #64: Jon Young & J. Cash "Motivation: The Mixtape"

Reviewed on 2.22.2008 & 2.23.2008 (Review No. 64)

Watz good it's Frankie. Time for me to get into another mixtape. Tonight's mixtape gon be my boyz Jon Young & J. Cash wit their "Motivation" mixtape. I only heard tha "Post Up In Da Parkin' Lot" song (Remix) featuring Lil' Boosie. I hope they sound good on this joint. Start Time: 11:58 PM | Video Game Playing: Quest 64 (for Nintendo 64) (on my computer)

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. J. Cash "Intro"
Let's see how this thang gon start off… >>> Good. I think Jon Young should've been on this. My Rating: N/A

02. J.Cash "Motivation"
Got a High AL for tha start! >>> Lol tha "Independent" beat/a rework! "M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N" taken from tha "I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T"! Good rhymes on that verse, but it's that hook that goes off tha FUCKIN' HOOK!! My Rating: 4.4

Intermission: I took about a 50 minute intermission. I had to post my previous review online.

03. "In The Game"
Good tha both of them are on this! High AL again! >>> Nice start. Sounds like tha Youngbloodz "Presidential" joint. Lol @ that electronic dude on tha hook. Sounds good… I'm lovin' tha fusion of everythang on this joint (Jon Young & J. Cash + tha beat + that electronic hook). My Rating: 4.5

04. J. Cash "This My Time"
Now we're minusing Jon Young again…? Hope J. Cash does a great job wit this just like his lil' "M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N"! >>> Beat intro reminds me a lil' of Young Jeezy "I Luv It". Now it's soundin' better. Now it sounds more like "I Luv It". Lol how weird, he just mentioned Young Jeezy. Good hook. Definitely feelin' this. Kinda short tho… My Rating: 4.1

05. "Hypnotized"
I'll laugh if it's tha Plies/Akon beat. >>> It iz!! Too bad it's only 2:03. That's like a "verse rip off"! I dunno it sounds okay to me. It's nothin' special about it. My Rating: 3.4

06. J. Cash "Ass Clap"
And I'll laugh again if this tha Hurricane Chris/Big Poppa Of Ratchet City beat. >>> It iz! At least this hook sounds better, as it has an attempt of attempting tha original. That's what I like sometimes about tha jacked beat songs. Definitely a good one right here, and tha best part of tha rendition was those "bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum"s at tha end. My Rating: 3.8

07. Jon Young "Livin' My Life"
Okay a joint wit just Jon Young on it. I have a High AL for it. >>> Not really feelin' tha start. Doesn't look like it's my joint. Sorry, this iz not "a classic" IMO. My Rating: 2.7

08. Yung Chill Feat. Lil' Slow, B. Raw & J. Cash "Fresh"
Looks like it will be a good joint, HOWEVER, iz that B. Raw (period & space in tha name) tha same B-Raw (dash & no space in tha name) that's from Louisiana? I don't really know B-Raw's voice too well, so I might not know, but lemme hear this joint. >>> Decent start/hook. Nothin' bad. Looks like this B. Raw iz from Florida. This joint sounds pretty good tho. Beat iz like a Drumma Boy meets Swizz Beatz type of beat. My Rating: 3.9

09. "J. Cash Speaks"
What do you got to say? >>> Okay message. Jon Young iz next up? Gonna wanna hear. It BETTER be BETTER than that previous joint wit just him! My Rating: N/A

10. J. Cash "Never"
This izn't Jon Young… >>> And it's not bad. This sounds better than some songs… My Rating: 3.6

11. Essay Potna, Jon Young & J. Cash "Get Like Me (Remix)"
Lol @ "Essay Potna" (as a name). I'm guessin' he's an English major. Let's hear tha rhymes then! *Predicts that it's on tha David Banner/Chris Brown/Jim Jones beat* >>> Cool beat intro. It's not what I guessed. Same type of hook tho. Tha hook reminds me of J.A. (and also sounds like him) on "Fuck You" where he's like "fuck me nigga, fuck you." That first verse was decent. Tha 2nd and 3rd verse sounded pretty good too. My Rating: 3.8

12. Rusty J Feat. J. Cash "Calabria (Remix)"
"Easy now, no need to go down / Rup that, run that, this ah we from.
Fu-pu when you run come around, I know you tha talk of tha town, yeah." Definitely loved it (and still do), and I'm glad it got its exposure! Definitely wanna hear this remix, so VERY HIGH AL!! >>> A lil' different on tha beat. It actually sounds like Enur's original "Calabria" beat released in 2003 (if I'm correct), but now it sounds like it's mixin' Natasja wit that 2007 version of "Calabria". What's wit that singin' of that dude throughout tha hook? I like how you kept Natasja on tha hook. What's wit all those "ooh damn, look at that girl"? I think it said it too much. And this was great. Just minus a lil' bit of that vocalizing by Rusty J from tha hook and his "ooh damn, look at that girl" parts. My Rating: 4.3

13. "O-Town"
Yes it's tha both of them! Go on, represent tha O right now! >>> A lil' odd beat for me. I didn't expect it. Yeah shouts out to my dawg Wes Fif. Glad you brought him up (I think you did). Yeah Jon Young did his fuckin' thang! Good hook too. Looks like it's gettin' better since tha beginning of it! Oh that's it, only 2:28? My Rating: 4.0

14. J.Cash "Watch My Chucks"
Cool it looks like a 3Deep rework! >>> It iz. These are some good jacked beats on this mixtape. Pretty good startin' on tha verse. Size 12 huh? I'm Size 10, and my boy Big Jeff iz Size 21, lol. I currently am rockin' Jordans, so "do what you win, but watch my Jordans." (just made up by me just now) My Rating: 3.7

15. Shamrock Feat. Jon Young "Break Me Down (Revisited)"
That's different that there's a "revisited" on tha ID (instead of like a remix). I guess we gon keep tha Trill Entertainment music movin' 'cause this looks like a "Wipe Me Down rework. >>> Oh no I'm so wrong, and what's wit that intro? Sounds pretty good. That "electronic dude hook" iz back again. My Rating: 3.3

½time: Okay it's 1:46 AM right now, and I guess I finna finish this tomorrow. I dunno when I'm finishing it 'cause my dad iz rumored to come up to visit us for a few hours. There's like a 1% chance of that happening 'cause he's tha worst person you can count on. >>> Yeah there was a 1% chance of him coming up. He didn't come up. Always lying to us, smh. At least my rappin' grandma iz OFFICIALLY comin' up February 29th! Now it's 11:04 PM, so now I finna get back into this review!

16. J. Cash "Turnin' Heads"
How you gon do on tha Mike Jones beat? >>> Of course it sounds good. I like how tha hook was kept. J. Cash doin' his thang on this. Good job. My Rating: 3.8

17. J. Cash "Duffle Bag Boy"
Lol @ keepin' tha same title again. At least it gives me a warning that it's a jacked beat. >>> I still fuckin' love tha "Duffle Bag Boy" song/beat to this date! Too bad nobody's promoting any new single for them. Their CD was off tha fuckin' hook! Lil' Wayne'll always be tha best on this. C-Coop (a rapper I discovered from Myspace) did better on tha hook for his "Pussy Ass Boi" song. I still feel this. This also has only one verse (which C-Coop's does, but C-Coop has a nice/funny 1 minute message at tha end of his). My Rating: 3.9

18. J. Cash "Be Something"
Damn where's Jon Young? No offense. It's just I think I might like him better, but it's all good. Iz this a jacked beat? It looks like it, but it prolly ain't… >>> I don't know tha beat, so it sounds new, but I dunno about it. I'm not really onto this that much, and that organ sounds kinda weird throughout tha beat. Nothin' special. Sounds like a motivating song tho. My Rating: 2.5

19. "Jon Young Speaks"
Watz good wit u homie? >>> What's wit that Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time" type of beat in tha background? I dunno about that. It could be both good and bad if it's tha next song. My Rating: N/A

20. Jon Young "Endless"
Cyndi Lauper time, although I might maybe have a chance of feelin' it since it's Jon Young, but I think he had one disappointing song on this mixtape (it was like tha 1st one of just him). >>> Oh wait no, I might actually like this. It's not tha Cyndi Lauper beat. It's a new beat, and it sounds real nice. Beat iz nice and smooth, and tha rhymes are great. Somethin' about these 2 boyz. They remind me of NB Ridaz. But yeah, nice motivating beat. A lot better than "Be Something". My Rating: 4.3

21. Dot G Feat. J. Cash "I'm Gone"
Wonder what this collabo iz… >>> A lil' odd hook for me. Beat iz aight so far. It's better than a few songs on here tho. Pretty good verses. My Rating: 3.6

22. J. Cash "Can't Tell Me Nothin'"
What's wit all tha J. Cash beat jacked songs? >>> Decent. My Rating: 3.3

23. Serious Flo Feat. J. Cash "Dat Good"
I know tha beat (it was someone featuring Fabo of D4L), and C-Coop did somethin' over this beat too. It's a real good beat. >>> Never mind it's not that beat. It sounds shitty… Wow this shit iz so bad. Iz Serious Flo white or somethin' 'cause I hate that "understood" in tha hook. It should say "undastood" no matter what color you are. Rap music iz all about slang! My Rating: 1.2

24. J. Cash "Like Cash"
I dunno what beat to expect… but no one iz "Like Cash" (J. Cash that iz)! >>> Oh tha title kinda matches tha beat a lil' 'cause it's Three 6's "Like Money". You keep bringin' ur partner up, but he's NEVA in any of these songs… I like how it's "look/feel/smell like cash," instead of "money". My Rating: 3.7

25. J. Cash "Dey Know"
What else could it have been, lol. >>> @ tha "dey know"s!! This kinda bored me, but those "dey know"s FUCKIN' ENTERTAIN ME!! This was better than C-Coop's "In Tha Ground" (his version of "Dey Know" which I heard before "Dey Know"; how weird). My Rating: 3.8

26. J. Cash "I Get Money"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>> It's only 1:11! :D :D Why do people still go crazy over this? 2007 iz over, and so iz 50's career! OMG when I get my mixtape out, I'mma make sure I don't have any mainstream jacked beats on it. That was so short, and nothin' special at all. Natureboy Rowe had tha best version! My Rating: 1.7

27. Ridicule Feat. J. Cash "See Me"
I know we had all them fuckin' jacked beats, and now when it comes to tha title "See Me", I know fa'sho I ain't gonna see a Wes Fif/J.A. jacked beat… >>> Nope, but I might like this beat too. Sounds cool. Now why can't J. Cash focus more on jointz like this? I like at tha end where it always goes "you can check us out at myspace.com/jonyoung or myspace.com/officialjaycash ." Cool song tho. My Rating: 3.8

28. J. Cash "Bill Collecta"
What did you do to Chamillionaire? >>> Too bad Chamillionaire could not release a 2nd single for "Ultimate Victory". BTW, I don't really like that you didn't really change tha hook to tha original around that much. That was bad. Sorry. My Rating: 2.4

29. J. Cash "Neva Gon Stop"
I think that's an ID error. You have "goin'". I think it should be "gon". >>> Yup I fixed tha error. I like tha "umma do me/movie" line. Gotta feel this tho. Yeah it iz motivation music! My Rating: 3.7

30. "All I Needed"
Finishing it off together. >>> Again tha "electronic dude" hook? Lol. I'm not really too big about tha lyrics on this pretty good/decent beat. My Rating: 3.2

Overall: End Time: 2.24.2008 @ 12:10 AM. Okay decent mixtape, although things were all ova tha place: jacked beats, tight jointz, some bad ones, too much J. Cash, and that's prolly it. There was way too much J. Cash. I think things should've been balanced between Jon Young & J. Cash.
