Review #2,028: Amp Presents "BR Steppers" (The Movie)

Reviewed on 10.09.2022 (Review #2,028)

In tha mist of my confusing, non-stop grind mode, I have a lil’ minute ta review, right nah. I’ve been makin’ my way in tha Louisiana movie scene & shout out ta Amp, formerly DJ Amp, with his latest movie, BR Steppers, courtesy of AMC Theaters! It was released exactly a month ago, on September 9, 2022; I was there for tha release party & after-party. Not to mention, I make an appearance in tha movie, which iz awesome! That’s why, I’m takin’ tha valuable tyme out my schedule ta review it, right nah! With that bein’ said, I can’t wait ta review it, so here it goes…! Start Time: 8:20 PM | End Time: 9:58 PM

Quick Note: I rate each scene from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care what’s what! As long as it’s cool and good enough for me to like it! I look for style & then tha storyline. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a scene gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already; if at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I see it) so any scene can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I see tha scene; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha scene while I’m watching it. If you act like anything too mainstream for me, there’s auto-tune or lots of talkin’ about money, hoes & stuntin’ 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! I also don’t go for stuntin’ wit tons of money, non-stop…

0:00: Looks awesome, between tha Sundown gas stop, tha music in tha intro, tha color of tha footage & tha drivin’. I mean, there’s so much to appreciate, when you see err-body contributin’.

0:35: Shout out ta Dolla Bill Da Last Man, then with tha gun shootin’.

0:47: Dolla Bill’s studio; I recognized it…!

0:47: Dolla Bill’s studio; I recognized it…!

1:02: Anotha day in tha life of B.R., here… Tha chick on tha audio sounds a lil’ screechy & distorted… Sounds like they were peakin’ with their audio volumes…

2:08: Likin’ AME Garrey goin’ inta da shoe store, mumblin’ his way to da kicks… Interestin’ talk about tha unexpected pregnancy.

3:23: Tha pressures of tha unexpected pregnancy… I hate ta admit it but tha unexpected pregnancies play a major role in hurtin’ tha artists’ careers. It’s all about tha right tyming & to make sure you raise yourself, first.

4:17: I recognize G-Thang walkin’… Gangsta shit @ 5:19; tha shootin’ rages on…!

5:33: Damn… Life after Lil’ Max, as he was murdered by T-Boy…

6:06: Likin’ that this B.R. cop pulled up… However, tha way he spoke, it was too quiet. His audio sounds betta at 7:41, at least…

8:09: Not sure how I feel about tha jump cut, when tha chick starts panicking… Also, not really a fan of tha cross dissolve @ 8:27… If I were y’all, I woulda zoomed in, a lil’ & then, when tha cut woulda jumped, I woulda went back to tha regular frame size, without cross-dissolvin’.

9:18: It’s such a sad, fucked-up day when you find out that some1 gets killed; hate ta witness tha crying…

10:23: Tha way that tha black space appeared fa a few frames, I woulda made it into a whole second or two, with a sound effect. This way, it doesn’t really look too much like a random space in tha movie.

12:25: Lol @ tha scale & tha bag of weed… “Them numbaz gotta be right!” – Dolla Bill Da Last Man. “And, tha pillz,” he then says; gots to have ‘em—uppers, that iz!

13:36: Diggin’ tha girl with tha long, colored hair; sport it, gurl, lol…! Too bad she was breakin’ down, cryin’; sucks that she had to go through all this…

15:32: Good scene of tha three of them chillin’ by tha car but their audio volumes are a lil’ too quiet. When tha transition cross-dissolves to tha other dude talkin’ on tha phone, I woulda just cut to him, rather than cross-dissolve to him. I think it looks cleaner, without tha cross-dissolvin’.

19:53: I noticed a slight black-space frame, once dude got on tha phone wit tha dude in tha car. Just wantin’ ta point dat out, since I have a high attention-to-detail ability. Also, at 20:17, too…

20:32: S/O to ChaYsuh chillin’ on tha porch, here…

21:07: Surprise bullets bein’ fired! Tha shootin’ iz real…!

26:22: Tha fountain of water iz overtakin’ tha girls talkin’… They shoulda spoke a lil’ louder, durin’ their part…

29:26: Tha officers are a lil’ on tha quiet side, here…

33:59: S/O to Flag St.! Free G.O.C. Flag St.!

34:42: A slight frame or two of black space…

39:08: Tha lighting of tha footage/room changed. I know, it sucks when you’re filmin’ & your light dies… Regardless, that’s a scene in its own of findin’ AME Garrey’s sista passed out on tha ground…!

42:29: S/O to Baby Keith on tha DJin’! He had a jump-cut at 42:45…

50:28: Nice drone shot of Downtown Baton Rouge…!

51:56: Tha scariest shit when you are corned with them gunz…!

55:42: S/O to Thrasher Boy fa makin’ a performance appearance. Only thang iz, I don’t fuck wit tha “bag”/money-type of rap. Still, keep tha grind up…

56:08: Cool that tha “Dumb Way” track from Nu$$ie & Skull Duggrey was playin’ but why did it rewind back to tha beginning, randomly, after, like, tha 1st bar of tha track?

57:06: Not too sure what they sayin’… I guess, they enjoyin’ themselves at tha club?

1:01:56: Crazy that a shootout happenin’ inside tha club…

1:03:44: When tha young kid walks into tha gas station, it’s like an anthem to… (next highlight)

1:04:06: …FrankieThaLuckyDog! Luv how tha music fades down b4 it cuts to my part… Even tho tha youngin on tha quiet side, still, he was givin’ me tha rundown of what’s poppin’ in Baton Rouge, from tha other side of tha country. Gotta luv me at 1:04:34: “I finna turn tha mutha-figgy-figgy-fuck up, ya heard me?!” Awesome sauce! Also, how fast it transitioned to tha next part.

1:04:50: Ahh, a frame or two of black space, lol…

1:05:19: Geez, a shootin’ outside tha church…!

1:09:10: Damn, they shootin’ in tha field, too…!

1:18:09: A few frames of black space…

1:18:26: Lol @ Dolla Bill @ “Love Is A Battlefield” in tha background… Weird mix fa B.R. but literally, tha “love” (for tha streetz) really “is a battlefield,” after all!

1:22:51: Damn, dead air, or should I say, muted audio? Prolly coulda had some ambient noise of tha car hummin’ or somethin’ instead of 100.00% silence.

1:27:07: Why does it look like a mysterious blur iz on tha zipper part of tha cop’s bag? Also, where y’all have “Cedrick “Tyson”Clay”, y’all shoulda put a space after tha end quote & tha “C” in “Clay”; just sayin’.

1:28:13: Awesome; gotta luv tha credits scrollin’…! S/O to James Stines a.k.a. Officer Lowdown! That’s my dawg, OMG Flash! Also, Mike Gutta, as Mark…!

1:29:18: My name!! S/O to my name appearin’ in tha credits! Y’all 2 Amped 2 Quit Productions team are awesome!!

1:29:48: When y’all get to tha Sound & Editor credits, y’all shoulda indented Amp’s real name one or two more indents. This way, it matches up with tha other indents, due to them havin’ longer titles. Also, y’all misspelt “restaurant” & put “restuarant”… Just sayin’, in my QC perspective, ya dig?

Overall: Awesome job, Amp & tha crew! I know I had ta point a few thangz out but for tha most part, y’all made me feel tha Baton Rouge lifestyle in a larger way! Baton Rouge plays a huge role in my heart, life & culture; it’ll be 15 years that I’ve had my connection of Louisiana on Tuesday, October 11th! I got a hold of Flash & I’m preparin’ anotha trip, comin’ soon! I wanna be in his upcomin’ movie, Mailman Willie, I believe it iz; can’t wait! If I had ta rate this movie, overall, I would go with a 4.1 for tha movie rating. Of course, gotta luv tha Baton Rouge lifestyle; just was a lil’ thrown off by tha black spaces & audio parts, at tymes. Other than that, you know I gon keep supportin’ y’all to tha fullest! S/O to err-body that came through, at tha release party! There were about 100 of us deep up in that theater!
