Review #314: Trapp Da Rippa "Welcome 2 Da Pain"

Reviewed on 10.04.2009 (Review #314)

Wat up? Dis ya boy FrankieThaLuckyDog here, in a review mode for my big dawg Trapp Da Rippa!! Dis boy right here iz a REAL street dude dat lives dat street life to tha fullest!! Wit dis new CD, “Welcome 2 Da Pain”, I’m expectin’ sum HOT street shit!! I peeked at tha features a lil’ bit, and they give me a high anticipation level, fa sho!! So, tha big moment of tha night iz here!! My review for Trapp Da Rippa “Welcome 2 Da Pain”! Start Time: 11:21 PM | End Time: 12:39 AM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0. Each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself with my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings (if a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it) so any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Thiz Iz My Life”
I like tha “z”’s in tha title; that’s watz good, lol! Should start off wit your street style!! >>> Started off pretty fast, and I’m hearin’ err-thang that’s goin’ on… See you didn’t have a dad, and are livin’ through tha struggle of tha streetz here. Thanx 4 tha lyrics; it at least iz ear-catchin’ wit tha beat, how you deliver tha lyrics, and (mainly) YOUR voice!! Nice job on tha 1st verse, and you KNOW I got a lotta luv 4 you, big dawg! Startin’ off tha 2nd verse wit your “sellin’ dope” strategy at “Age 17” here; that’s a good look for those lookin’ at your status in tha streetz. Nice job on tha 2nd verse, and it just continues wit tha 3rd verse, keepin’ it REAL GUTTA for these BR streetz, ya dig!! Gotta LUV how you sound on this track right here, and you KNOW it’ll sound REAL GR8 as well on otha tracks!!! Definitely a NICE start to this CD, as it’s growin’ on me while it’s playin’!! Once again, it a blessin’ dat you discovered me on YouTube!! :tu My Rating: 4.3

02. “Thug So Hard” Feat. Kronik
This must be mixed or somethin’? I hear tha last few seconds of tha 1st song on tha beginning of this… Now that I see tha title/featured artist/length, it’s lookin’ like it gon be a REAL NICE follow-up song from tha last one; REALLY lookin’ forward!!! >>> It sounds pretty familiar in tha beginning; prolly was on your YouTube or somethin’. Either way, pretty good start, catchy hook. Glad you add dat EXTRA special thugness into your hooks!! These are tha lyrical songs that are NOT boring!! You’re on tha 1st verse, just deliverin’ dat RAW, street shit here!! I REALLY hate ta see you go through all this struggle at all times, but you know wit me here, you got a HUGE positive!! Wait ‘til I make a commercial for dis CD!! What idea can I apply to it?? Either way, it’s sad ta hear about your mom and shit on this 1st verse. GR8 lyrics, and NICE 1st verse!! Here’s da 2nd verse, from Trapp, your government name! Yea, that’s right (for those readin’)!! Trapp Da Rippa’s real name iz Trapper (I think or Trapp). That goes ta show you how STREET he iz!! Who has a real name that has ta do wit tha streetz? I don’t know ANYONE!! Still kept tha STRONG rhymes in tha 2nd verse, as well as ALWAYS keepin’ it gutta, so I DEFINITELY am feelin’ you on dis one!! I DEFINITELY wanna hear your older shit from back in tha day, ya dig!! Tha 3rd verse iz you? Where’s tha Kronik dude? Keepin’ tha shit goin’ wit tha GR8 rhymes and lyrics throughout tha 3rd verse. I like tha “dawg” part right before tha 4:00 mark. :tu You are SO FUCKIN’ GR8!! I think I hear tha featured person sayin’ tha title. I’m assumin’ that’s him… Also, this song defeated tha “mixed” purpose (as I heard in tha last song) ‘cause there was a fade-out ending ta this song. My Rating: 4.5

03. “Welcome 2 My City” Feat. Beezy Bird & Needy Nee
Look @ these (my language) “pee-pedz,” lol (that’s how I said “people” in 2001, lol)!! When I saw dat Beezy Bird was featured on your CD, I was like, “Man, dis iz DEFINITELY somethin’ serious now!!!” And now, I gon hear tha finished product wit Needy on it too!!! >>> This one has a fade-in intro (which I think tha last one had it too). Sims did this beat? I don’t recall, but I rememba talkin’ ta you (and Sims) about Sims (and Sims about you), and y’all didn’t know each other? Am I wrong? Either way, DEFINITELY a cool beat here, tha hook iz nice/catchy for tha Baton Rouge city, and tha 1st verse here from you iz DEFINITELY deliverin’ more of a gangsta style here, includin’ some NICE Baton Rouge mixed lyrics here!! DEFINITELY feelin’ what you spit here; keep this shit goin’!! :tu I hear Beezy Bird at 1:34; heard his “bow” shit before tha verse came on. Yea, he ALWAYS sounds hella cool wit his verse and what he spits here. I was on tha phone wit him tha otha day (when he called me in French class), and he was rappin’ ta me and all dat shit! Lookin’ forward ta gettin’ his CD in tha mail soon (hopefully)!! Once again, thumbs up to tha Bird, doin’ tha damn thang wit his G-Lane style!! And speakin’ of G-Lane, you KNOW Needy Nee had ta have tha 3rd verse!! Yea, “you can find her on dat Lane!” I like tha gunshot part also that she added before tha 3:00 mark! DEFINITELY feelin’ her gangsta style here; comin’ through REAL HARD on this track right here!! Glad she’s deliverin’ tha “Baton Rouge” shit, includin’ it in her verse! REAL NICE job right there!! My Rating: 4.7
EDIT: Afta thinkin’ ‘bout it, it was Trouble Tee from C-4 that didn’t know who you (or Sims) were (as well as Sims not knowin’ about him). My bad for tha confusion.

04. “Wit Cha Hoe” Feat. Sims On Da Track
What’s wit tha short-ass length of 2:26? You should’ve shortened it by 1 second so it would’ve been 2:25 (Baton Rouge) on tha length, lol! Checkin’ tha ID now, and it looks like this’ll prolly be anotha Sims produced song (since he’s featured on this song)!!! Looks like a typical club title, so I’m DEFINITELY gonna look forward ta dis one!! >>> Minus tha 1st second of tha last song on this, it’s pretty much 2:25. Tha beginning sadly reminds me of “Crank Dat (Soulja Boy)” wit tha flow (and somewhat of tha beat), but it’s REAL, REAL catchy for me!! :tu REALLY feelin’ tha REAL FAST repetitiveness of tha title, and tha beat sounds NICE here!! Sounds like a GR8 airplay song fa me, ya dig! Tha 1st verse iz here, and although a club title, you’re “all hood” here, at ALL TIMES!!! JUST LUV WHEN YOU SAY THA TITLE!!! It’s just TOOOOOO catchy, and tha Sims beat PICKS UP at about 1:30!! :tu Nice job deliverin’ this song right here, and let’s hear dat boy Sims!!! Ooh, he mentioned “Blu Black,” so you KNOW that’s a plus!! He ALWAYS sounds GR8 on these tracks; dark demon style, lol! I luv how he adds that ANGER/expression in his voice when deliverin’ tha verse!! Nice job, although it felt like his verse ended quite fast… My Rating: 4.6

05. “So Sick, So Throwed”
…And ANOTHA GR8 title here!!! REALLY lookin’ forward ta hearin’ just you, and what you gon spit on this one!!! >>> There’s always a second extra in tha beginning from tha last song. Tha beginning of tha beat sounded like a child rhyme or somethin’, but when tha hook came in, I felt like tha beat from tha last song picked up and continued; NICE shit here!!! Catchy hook of you bein’ “so sick;” I know dat already! As for tha 1st verse, soundin’ like you spittin’ buku rhymes, includin’ you doin’ ya thang!! And like my gurl An-Ya (Dance music artist), you “takin’ ova dat nightlife!” :tu It sounded like tha 1st verse went through pretty quick? It still was GR8 ‘cause it blended in NICE wit tha hook!! It sounds like I can play BUKU jointz from dis CD ‘cause it’s just REAL CONSISTENT on EVERY topic!!! Catchy 2nd verse, includin’ you sayin’ your name at tha end of tha 2nd verse a few times. Keep tha street/gutta/hood shit comin’ ‘cause you DEFINITELY sound like you’re one of tha undaground kingz of Baton Rouge when it comes to dis street shit!! You should collaborate wit A-Mar & Dyl; they REALLY street wit their shit!! Here we are wit tha 3rd verse, addin’ a lil’ bit of a mainstream flow here, mixin’ in REAL NICE!! :tu Nice job on tha 3rd verse, fillin’ up my plate for shit I expect!! My Rating: 4.7

06. “Yii”
LOL @ tha title, yet, 5:34 on tha length!! :rofl What could I REALLY expect here? It looks like a sound effect? >>> Long beat intro here, where I’m not sure what ta expect… Oh, it’s anotha title for “yah”/anotha way of sayin’ “yah!” I hear tha “beast mode” shit in tha hook, so you KNOW I’m definitely inta this shit right here!! Tha 1st verse iz here, and it sounds like you just wantin’ ERR-THANG, ya dig!! You DEFINITELY need ta stay on par, so you’ll need ERR-BODY’S shit, ya dig!! Nice job on tha 1st verse, and tha hook iz DEFINITELY nice/catchy!! This commercial should be REAL NICE!!! Extended 2nd hook here, as it repeats! Tha 2nd verse iz here, and it just shows more of how much you’re a blessin’ in this Rap game, as well as for me! Keep “writin’” about “tha struggle” you be goin’ through ‘cause you blend it in wit these CATCHY-ASS tracks here!!! As I said on tha phone to you, as much as you said, “ya heard me,” like 5x within 30 seconds, just that alone let me know how STREET you would be on this CD, “ya heard me,” lol! :tu Oh no, not a long-ass beat outro now, iz there? There’s still anotha 1:30+ left… I mean, at least tha beat can change a lil’ bit, instead of soundin’ repetitive… Okay, a change at 4:49, wit a lil’ ova 40 seconds remainin’… Too bad for tha long beat outro. My Rating: 4.4

½time: Now, I’m DEFINITELY FUCKIN’ GLAD I’m fuckin’ wit chu, on tha real!!!!! This CD iz REALLY off to a REAL GR8 start wit tha GR8 street flava here, as well as your GR8 voice for this Rap shit, ya dig!! I’m SO FUCKIN’ GLAD I randomly called you tha otha night ‘cause I paid off, and I got ta talk ta Blu Black as a bonus!! Also, I’m glad you kept callin’ me back when you said you was goin’ to ‘cause buku people be playin’ wit my head wit dat shit, but you REAL wit it, so you get tha MEGA props from me!! I’m willin’ ta do anything for you, dawg, so let me know what you need from me, and I’ma make it happen!! Keep these TIGHT songs, lyrics, flows, styles, etc. comin’, and I’ll DEFINITELY embrace it!! My iPod’s CRAVIN’ for dis CD ta go into it!!! Tha average CD rating iz currently… at… a… WHOPPIN’…, CRAZY… INSANE… RETAWDED… 4.5!!!

07. “Na Dey Kno” Feat. Baby Balla
You KNOW a joint iz REALLY street when 3/3 of tha words in tha title are in slang style!! Well, what can I expect fa this one? I’m expectin’ club style wit dat title, but you (and that “balla” on this joint) will give tha RIGHT/catchy recipe!!! >>> I heard “motivation” in tha beginning, so I’m expectin’ some motivational shit here? Tha beat this time iz DEFINITELY catchy in tha beginning!! Singin’ on tha hook? It’s actually pretty good, and dat dude iz rappin’ on tha 1st verse; luv his slang in his verse! NICE style wit tha “car drivin’ off” part before tha 1:00 mark. DEFINITELY a nice verse, so I’m DEFINITELY givin’ him more props of bein’ a rapper!! Let’s see tha 2nd verse… Ooh, it’s tha balla again!! Glad I got 2x more of what I expected from him (maybe 3x ‘cause he didn’t just sing; he delivered 2 verses)!!! Nice job wit tha street lyrics in tha 2nd verse, as well as those NICE background ad-libs!! Tha verse was cut in ½ (so it was 2.5x more now, lol) ‘cause you’re on tha 2nd ½ of tha 2nd verse, Trapp!! Damn, you just sound SO FUCKIN’ GR8 on dis shit wit tha GRIMY-ASS voice here!!! You’re SO FUCKIN’ GR8!!! If it’s one reason why I luv doin’ what I do, it’s people like you seein’ what I do!! I’m here ta help people, and I’m glad you noticed me fa dat ‘cause I FUCKIN’ LUV WHAT YOU DOIN’!!! :tu See, I thought this was gonna be more club-type, but it became an IMPACTIN’ street-type song!!! My Rating: 4.6

08. “Bad Broad (Show Ya Ass Off)” Feat. Baby Balla
NOW I see dis bein’ a club song!! Luvin’ tha “just above” 4:00 lengths here, lol! I noticed, ½ tha CD has lengths only 1 second apart from each other (this iz 4:04, tha last one was 4:03, #5 was 4:02, and #3 was 4:05); DEFINITELY a catchy formula for dis CD!!! Anyway, I couldn’t get enough of Baby Balla rappin’, so he re-joined on dis song right here!! REALLY LOOKIN’ FORWARD!!!!! >>> Almost thought I heard scary Auto-Tune in tha beginning, but dat was tha BOUNCE type of beat dat came in tha beat!! Wow, this iz REAL FAST in tha hook!! I thought tha “Show Ya Ass Off” part of tha title had ta do wit tha Flippa Boyz song, lol. DEFINITELY a catchy verse, includin’ tha NICE mix of lyrics here from shakin’ dat ass ta tha kush and all dat!! :tu I almost feel like I can’t keep up wit it at time, but I’m assumin’ it’s Baby Balla doin’ tha damn thang in tha beginning; REAL TIGHT wit it!! Neva mind, that was you in tha beginning? I guess you sound different ‘cause this iz fast and shit. He’s on tha 2nd verse, soundin’ pretty good here; NICE blend by puttin’ him on this shit!! I could’ve pictured this bein’ that 2:26 length song (‘cause of it bein’ fast), but tha fastness’ll NEVA end wit this 4:00+ length, lol!! Interestin’ whisperin’ vocals a lil’ afta tha 3:00 mark! Almost sounds like “soak ya ass off” wit it goin’ so fast so many times, LMAO!! :rofl DEFINITELY ear-catchin’ here, so DEFINITELY thumbs up!!! My Rating: 4.5

09. “Get Ya Money” Feat. 1 Mannie
Iz his name “1 Manne”? I’m assumin’ ‘cause you got tha #1 by his name… Anyway, was gonna call it a club song off tha top, but I have a feelin’ it’ll be slower, more on tha street/motivational level like tha #7 song; let’s see!! >>> YEA, “Sims on tha beat!!!” A HUGE ear-catcher for tha start!! Not slow here, but it’s DEFINITELY on tha motivation/street level wit tha “get yo money, nigga” shit here! And speakin’ of “1st,” here’s tha 1st verse from 1 Mannie!! He doin’ his thang wit tha jiggalatin’ lyrics!! Gotta luv how he came through wit tha “loratabs and xanabars” part!! You DEFINITELY have ta get this dude ta get at me ‘cause I feel like I’ll DEFINITELY support him too!! He came REAL, REAL HARD wit dem pill-type street lyrics; FUCKIN’ GOT LOTS OF LUV 4 1 Mannie based off of a 1st time hearin’!!!!! :tu And keepin’ this shit goin’ wit you on tha 2nd verse, “all about yo paypa!!” Nice street shit here, re-addin’ dat gangsta shit in here!! “Tryna get it like tha ma’fuckin’ government;” that’s DEFINITELY watz good!! I like tha “growl in my stomach” part ‘cause you KNOW you “real hungry” wit dis shit!! I heard 1 Mannie in tha background before tha 3rd verse; iz he gonna be on tha 3rd verse? YEA!!! HOLY SHIT!!! IT’S HIM AGAIN!!! :tu Yea, he included you in tha verse, as he shouted you out and shit like dat!! Nice job deliverin’ dat verse for tha streets, Mannie!! And he only got a ½ outta it ‘cause y’all shared, since you’re on tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse!! DEFINITELY on tha gangsta tip here, cravin’ for tha $$$!!! Nice job, Trapp!! My Rating: 4.7

10. “Lock It Down” Feat. D.$.G.
This was one of tha features that ALSO caught my attention while you were givin’ me tha track numbaz!!! You even cool wit D.$.G., so that’s a MEGA plus!!! I wrote him (and told him about my reviewz and shit) a lil’ ova a month ago, but tha letter came back to me a few dayz ago. :( Hope I get a correct address soon, but fa now, lemme hear how y’all teamed up!!! >>> Sounds like a street sound in tha beginning… Iz dat D.$.G. in tha beginning? He shouted you out or somethin’… Either way, REAL GR8 intro, and I feel dat this iz D.$.G. AT HIS BEST HERE!!! Finally gettin’ ta hear his peak in how he sounds on your CD!!! He startin’ tha 1st verse off, introducin’ himself, as well as doin’ tha damn thang wit his gangsta-ass lyrics here!! REALLY doin’ tha damn thang, no less shoutin’ out “Mobb Life Ent., Sicktype Ent., and 99 Wayz 2 Grind Ent.” in his verse, so you KNOW he really doin’ tha damn thang wit socializin’ wit undaground BR peeps!! REAL NICE 1st verse, and that hook has such a NICE, Southern feel to it wit tha “swang” part in it; makes me feel like I’m in BR right now, ya dig!! And you KNOW tha song had ta have you on it, Trapp!! You “takin’ ova tha industry” wit D.$.G. on tha 2nd verse here, doin’ a NICE job here, overcomin’ tha struggle!! Sounds like you more uplifted wit this song ‘cause it sounds like you came out tha negative shit, and just enjoyin’ this Rap shit right here! :tu Tha song ain’t ova yet… D.$.G. on tha outro here wit 1:00+ left!!! See, now THIS iz what you do wit a remainin’ beat space!!! Afta hearin’ more of tha outro, and tha “ya heard me” shit from D.$.G., it makes me just REALLY wanna get ta communicate wit him in jail, ya dig!! Surprisingly, this broke through into tha best song on here so far!! My Rating: 4.8

11. “The High” Feat. J-Black, Enamali & Baby Balla
I don’t know if tha 2nd person iz two words or one word, but this looks like a collaboration!! Back to your “just above” 4:00 lengths now (although it’s exactly 4:00 flat), so you KNOW you comin’ back wit tha catchiness… Wait, “comin’ back?” What am I talkin’ about?? You HAVEN’T stopped yet!!! >>> A lil’ on tha slower/depressin’ side for a start… Not that bad; pretty good slow beat. Not sure how much I’m into tha hook… Sounds like tha beat just REALLY captures it more!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse here, and it sounds like a catchy, fast set of rappin’ here!! This iz really tha “endin’ song” to dis CD ‘cause #12 iz a bonus, so I can see why it’s a slow ending. It was a NICE 1st verse though ‘cause it was just dat catchy, fast shit!! Time for tha 2nd verse… Talkin’ ‘bout “da struggle” here, so they’re on dat Trapp Da Rippa shit here! Somewhat catchy here on tha 2nd verse; tha rhymes make you wanna keep listenin’. Did I wind up missin’ you somewhere on tha song? I don’t rememba… EDIT: You’re on tha 1st verse; no WONDER why it sounded GR8 on dis!! My Rating: 4.0

12. “Fresh Up Out Da Dome (Freestyle)”
Tha bonus here, and it’s STR8 off “da dome” for tha next 5:48!! What could I expect, and how TIGHT will it be? Sims produced beat I hope!! >>> Took like 10 seconds ta come in (‘cause it was real quiet in tha beginning). Fuck it bein’ a Sims beat, it’s pretty scary at 1st ‘cause of tha Auto-Tune; WTF?!? Don’t let this ruin tha automatic 5* rating (for havin’ 4.0 or more on every song) for this CD!!! Glad you “fulla dat weed,” but this really doesn’t sound like you here… I’m gonna try ta get into it wit tha next 4 minutes left… Tha rhymes are still pretty good, but I think this would be skipped when it comes ta playin’ this CD on my iPod due to tha Auto-Tune! Sounds like it’s good rhymes in tha 2nd verse too; thumbs up wit you still keepin’ it street wit ½ gay Auto-Tune vocals here!! I like how you said, “tryna rip a nigga, nigga” (wit tha double “nigga” parts)! :tu This iz nearly remindin’ me of how Jim Jones flows at times throughout tha 2nd verse, fa real! LOL @ tha “nigga” echos at 4:27ish; that sounded cool, yet random. Oh no, a 1:00+ ending again? :confused Tha beat iz goin’ away wit 50+ seconds left now… It ended right before it got ta 5:10… WAY too much silence that I can just edit out; you should’ve cut it! But, because of tha Auto-Tune, I must do it… You still got a 4.0+ average CD rating! But, it’s tha “no dickriding” rating!! You should’ve just put it on anotha CD, or have it unreleased. No wonder why it’s just a “bonus!” My Rating: 3.7

Overall: Well, too bad there was a sour-ass ending, but otha than that, DEFINITELY “street certified” here (like my boy Beat Flippa would say)!! You DEFINITELY proved ta me (and anyone that’s readin’ this) that you have FULL street credit wit your REAL street rhymes!! I luved all tha topics you touched on, as well as tha featured people on here!! Baby Balla & 1 Mannie makin’ sum HUGE “new artist” impact for me, so that’s a MEGA plus!!! Keep doin’ ya thang, and I hope you do REALLY like this review!! Wait ‘til tha commercial gets created (and “creative”) for dis!! I need ta come up wit a REAL, gutta idea!!! Keep doin’ tha damn thang for these Baton Rouge undaground streetz!! I hope you collaborate wit Blu Black (and othaz in G-Lane) in tha near future too!!!
