Review #1,390: London Loui "Took Long Enough"

Reviewed on 3.17.2014 (Review #1,390)

Whataya know? Anotha review! Off tha Loyalty Is Everything (L.I.E.) label, we have London Loui Took Long Enough. Loui iz a 21-year-old rapper from Baton Rouge, LA. I found out about this mixtape through BluBlack’s brother, Billion Dollar Blu (Blu3 Da Truth, or Blue On The Track) on Instagram. As far as Loui goes, I can tell he was a ‘90s baby when I saw that this was a “mixtape.” I dunno about a 55-minute, 14-track CD bein’ a “mixtape;” sounds like an album to me, if that’s even “cool” to say, nowadayz, smh. But, whateva, lemme just review this… Start Time: 8:59 AM | End Time: 9:54 AM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you use tha word “swag” frequently, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money and hoes 100,000x (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it! After I was robbed by an artist who claimed they “get money,” hearin’ about how much you “got money” and anything “money” really bothers me. If you have not done business wit me before, I won’t tolerate “money” talk in tha music!!

01. “Intro”
And, albums have original production! Blue On The Track providin’ you with some production, here; should be a good/interesting intro! >>> Sounds a lil’ slow for an intro? Let’s see what comes outta this… Good intro; almost sounds like Beezy Bird. Tha hook’s nice wit not trustin’ “nobody;” I know I learned my lesson by supportin’ Louisiana too much! Can’t trust lyrics at any time!! Hearin’ tha 1st verse, and it sounds good ova this nice, Lil’ Blu track! Tha 2nd verse iz pretty nice; just now 21, and you’re already into tha lean and err-thang? Good job, here. My Rating: 3.9

02. “Big Dreams”
Anotha Blu3 Da Truth beat! >>> LOL @ wantin’ “to be them” [tha rappers], growin’ up… This beat’s pretty smooth and sounds great. Seems like you’re slowly startin’ off this CD, instead of just slammin’ down on it, quick. Hearin’ tha 1st verse, and rhymes are good; slightly boring with how this sounds, overall, but nothin’ negative, overall. Fuck! This 6:17?! No way iz this a mixtape with a long-ass song like this on there! Tha hook’s good fa “reality.” Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ good, too. Not bad, overall; sounds like you want fans? Hearin’ tha hook again, and I’m glad you “cherish every item [you] receive!” Tha 3rd verse sounds good, as this continues… I’m 4:22 in, and I haven’t been completely bored, yet, surprisingly… And, of course, a 57-second outro? Nope, some freestylin’; nice, though you prolly should’ve just had it as a separate track. Not too crazy about tha voice on tha freestylin’ ‘cause it sounds like Mista or someone, smh. My Rating: 4.0

03. “I Really Do It”
Hope so; Austin Rashaad on tha track… >>> This sounds more like what could’ve been tha 1st track on this CD; good, regular sound and hook, so far. Tha 1st verse sounds good, but I hear a Gates/Percy Keith-like flow in your voice… Tha 2nd verse’s a lil’ cocky and random-sounding; I dunno, here… Sounds like you’re just tryna get attention or somethin’… My Rating: 3.6

04. “Go With Yo Move” (L.I.E. Ace)
So, a different dude rappin’ off this one, I see? Produced by Cosmo… >>> I like how this sounds; he might just be better than you! Nice hook, and pretty serious beat! Lots goin’ on in tha 1st verse, here; pretty nice, but I lost all interest for random fast raps, lately… I think Kevin Gates ruined it. Great rhymes, but ugh, this fast rappin’ on tha 2nd verse iz such a turn-off!! Great rating from me, luckily, though tha fast rappin’ got in tha way. My Rating: 4.4

05. “How I’m Built” Feat. Percy Keith
Percy Keith in 2014? What a surprise, I guess? Thought he was only 2013, but at least you’re givin’ him a chance, with Billion Dollar Blu, a.k.a. Blu3 Da Truth, b.k.a. Blue On The Track on tha beat! >>> Beat’s nice; sounds pretty energetic, mixed with some intense-type street shit, a lil’ bit. You’re on tha 1st verse, I believe, and it sounds good/random. Tha hook’s pretty catchy, too; blends in nicely… Tha 2nd verse sounds good from you, too; consistent rhymes, this time. Okay, yup, Percy Keith on tha 3rd verse; nice “-ah”-ending lines to start off tha verse. Sounds good and consistent on this verse; nice job. My Rating: 4.3

06. “Cold Hearted” Feat. Lil’ Cali
Nice feature, though no producer listed? >>> Production’s got a lil’ bit of tha Blue On The Track-like vibe to it, so far… Hearin’ tha 1st verse, and that’s you? Sounds like a Gym Class Hero or someone… Weird hook? It’s okay, and then, some notes bein’ held? Why’s Lil’ Cali on tha feature? Who tha hell was that on tha 1st verse, then? Was that a Cali? Not tha same dude, since you’re on tha 2nd verse, here… I can’t stand when people keep peoples’ names “alive,” when they get “murdered;” they ruin tha name. Thank God I got my non-dickrided rappers like Sporty-T, Twelve A’Klok, Sheen~Marie, and others! My Rating: 2.6

07. “Cry No More” Feat. Myranda
I don’t think this one gon go over well, for me, though Blue On The Track on tha track… >>> Yea, I knew this was gonna sound a lil’ scary in tha beginning, though tha beat’s pretty nice… This prolly could’ve gone to a different rapper; I don’t think this really fits you. Not into tha depressin’ hook, though tha voice of Myranda sounds pretty good… Tha 1st verse ain’t too bad with your perseverance… Tha 2nd verse ain’t really for me; can’t listen to depressing music. My Rating: 2.2

½time: A decent effort, so far, fulla decent songs, songs that aren’t for me, and some bangerz. Overall, a 3.6 for tha CD rating, currently.

08. “Alive”
Austin Rashaad on tha beat. LOL @ him not likin’ “Lil’” anymore; neva thought people would break away from that and “young”! >>> Pretty bad beat, here; so slow! This an original production? Wow, could’ve thought it was that bootleg Lil’ Cali feature song without a producer, but it’s not. Tha 1st verse’s whateva, but tha 2nd verse sounds betta… Forgot to mention that tha hook’s whateva, too. What’s up wit tha “bitches” ending? Guess you made this depressing sound just to get attention? My Rating: 2.3

09. “Magazine” Feat. L.I.E. Ace
Blue On The Track comin’ through wit a Loyalty Is Everything collaboration! >>> Beat’s a lil’ slow, once again, but I’m sure I can get into it a lil’ bit, since it’s Blue. Tha intro’s pretty much attackin’ some P.A.N.s; hope you got some money for my services if you’re attackin’ those “broke-ass niggaz!” Hearin’ tha 1st verse, and it sounds decent, so far… Nice sounds in tha beat at 1:07… Tha hook sounds like one of those dickrided rappers on tha come-up, so I dunno how much I can feel it…; I’m startin’ ta feel tha beat more, though. Tha 2nd verse iz Ace, and he comin’ through wit okay rhymes, here; thought he was betta on that solo joint, but this iz still pretty nice… Hearin’ you on tha 3rd verse, and I like your description of tha “palm trees” and shit. Let’s hope I get away from this East Coast ASAP! SMFH @ tha “and, I’m fuckin’ yo bitch, nigga,” outro; all you want iz attention or somethin’? My Rating: 3.1

10. “So Beautiful” Feat. Malachi
Some Dead Game luv, here, with Guss On The Track (I like to spell his name with two “S”es to prevent confusion with Gus from Dhat Fam)! >>> Not feelin’ tha voice of Malachi on tha hook, this time. Beat’s okay for a smooth one. Hearin’ you on tha 1st verse, and just ‘cause it’s Malachi on tha feature, why you gotta sound a lil’ like Kevin Gates? Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, either, but it’s startin’ to sound boring/not for me. “Mixtapes” are for tha streetz,  not for tha ladies; this iz an album! My Rating: 2.5

11. “In The Morning”
More Blu3 luv… >>> I’m likin’ this beat start, here, except that typical sound effect that’s in everyone’s songs, before you started talkin’. That’s so not Louisiana; keep it to Drumma Boy! Tha hook’s pretty nice; I can dig it… Tha 1st verse’s pretty nice; are you a Kevin Gates relative or somethin’? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse, and at only 21, you got a “main bitch,” already? Seems like you’re makin’ moves fast; that’s how it be like in Louisiana? Not bad for this song, right chea. My Rating: 3.8

12. “Struggles”
Anotha Blue On The Track-produced joint fa you! >>> Why Blue keep usin’ a beat tag in tha beginning? When will producers quit that annoying, lack-of-fun-by-not-guessing shit? Anyway, tha beat’s pretty nice for anotha slow one, and you got some good rhymes in tha 1st verse… Tha hook’s kinda boring for me; not into a struggle. Wow, tha 2nd verse sounds like you’re rappin’ with a random flow. Like, it was regular, then, sounded like paranoia, and then, back to regular rappin’. My Rating: 3.0

13. “The Turn Up” Feat. L.I.E.
Blue On The Track beat; anotha L.I.E. collaboration! >>> Tha gay beat tag again!! Beat and rhymes are aight, though I’m not really into this hook; sounds like it has a mainstream vibe… Oh wait, that was tha pre-hook; tha actual hook’s good, except tha “bands” and “hoes” bullshit. That’s completely contradicting from tha “struggles” you said you have, smh. How about me: Havin’ only $200, no people at all around you; that ain’t you! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse from L.I.E., and it’s okay; pretty cocky wit tha “bitches on my dick” shit. Hope he don’t have a kid by now! More “hoes”-braggin’ on tha 3rd verse, here, from you… Not really into this, though it ain’t terrible. “Pocket fulla bands; I could loan a band to everybody;” I think I should take off just for that line! My Rating: 2.4

14. “How I’m Built (Remix)” Feat. Young Shine & Lee Banks
Took tha Keith out, lol? L…O…L… Anyway, same producer as tha original, so this’ll prolly have similarities… >>> Nice 1st verse; almost sounds like tha Short Bus Boyz have reunited or somethin’. Lee even came through nice and consistent, on this! Surprisingly, I think I like tha original a lil’ betta. Ewe, a Percy Keith ending from tha original version, and that damn beat tag repeatin’! My Rating: 4.2

Overall: Turned out to be a lil’ below average for me, with only a few tight songs. I think there were too many slow songs and female jointz on this, as well as a lack of an exciting mood. Definitely not a “mixtape,” once again; it’s an album ‘cause every song faded out, started without a DJ, had no blending, and of course, even had beat tags! Hope you submit somethin’ to my upcomin’, 17th mixtape compilation, due out Thursday!
