Review #1,853: G-Money "Ghetto Drama"

Reviewed on 11.22.2019 (Review #1,853)

Been rough with this work release shit… Had to take a month off of this reviewin’, due to everything that’s been goin’ on. There’s such things as a tough time but when it’s outta my power, then that’s when it’s really tough! Been havin’ only an hour, 3x a day, as well as work, to do things… Now, luckily, I’m on a furlough & can get some more of these done… Here goes my next review, from my Louisiana Reviewz Marathon: G-Money Ghetto Drama, released in 1997 on Twin Records! An intermission from ’99, as this was mislabeled in my folders… Ironic, due to this iz me returnin’ to tha reviewz, on an earlier note… Start Time: 1:42 PM | End Time: 2:51 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “It’s All In My Name (Intro)”
Producer: G-Money
>>> Beat sounds nice fa tha dark-soundin’ ‘90s, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice, ‘90s style… Nothin’ but talkin’ on tha hook, here, which makes this feel like just an intro… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on and it literally gives me tha exact same vibe as tha 1st verse… My Rating: 3.6

02. “Cops” feat. Shogun & Troop
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds like a dope beat from Carlos, here; definitely nice! All y’all comin’ through wit some dope shit; definitely nice, once again! Just luv that bassline Carlos puts in tha beat, here! Definitely know it’s N’awlinz, here! My Rating: 4.4

03. “Hit’Um Up, Bust’um Up” feat. Gangsta Black
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Anthemic on tha hook, here; good shit, as well as anotha C-Los beat! Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s pretty nice; can’t complain… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it sounds nice; gotta keep it goin’! It does continue to go, durin’ tha 3rd verse; sounds nice… My Rating: 4.2

04. “Ghetto Drama (Extended Version)” feat. Dowcie
Producer: Ed. G & G-Money
>>> An okay hook, here; I’ono if I’ll feel this sad vibe about tha “violence,” tho… Tha 1st verse okay; I’ll give it props for rappin’, tho… Hearin’ tha hook in its entirety and tha dude that adds his vocals sounds pretty powerful… Not really fa me but it serves its purpose, I guess? Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s not bad, neither; let’s see what else iz left… Got tha 3rd verse goin’ on, here, keepin’ these hard times goin’… A Mystikal-like flowin’ dude on tha 4th verse, here; pretty aggressive…! My Rating: 3.2

05. “My Appearance Alone” feat. Dowcie
Producer: G-Money
>>> Sounds a lil’ funky, here; not bad wit tha hook and shit… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ tha aggression, as well as tha beat kickin’ in! Nice transition from tha decent…! Tha 2nd verse’s pretty nice, as this shit continues; definitely dope…! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse and I’m feelin’ tha aggression, once again! Gotta deliver how y’all deliver! My Rating: 4.1

06. “Full-Time Jack Move” feat. Gangsta Black
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Anotha nice beat fa tha undaground/N.O./‘90s, here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice; let’s keep it goin’… Hearin’ tha hook and it’s aight; flows nicely with tha transitioning… Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s good ta keep this shit goin’… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha 3rd verse, soundin’ nice, of course; good shit… My Rating: 3.9

07. “Lyrical Homicide” feat. Dowcie, L S Drugz & Troop
Producer: G-Money
>>> Anotha nicely-done hook, here, with this singin’/undaground beat vibe… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it’s soundin’ good; keep tha consistency comin’…! Tha 2nd verse’s soundin’ great from two of y’all, here, spittin’ tha undaground rhymes… Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha aggressive Dowcie on tha 3rd verse, doin’ tha damn thang… Got tha 4th verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ pretty nice; tha regular-soundin’ flow’s back, here… Seems like this one’s neva endin’…; rhymes stay on point, tho. My Rating: 4.0

½time: For tha most part, this CD’s stayin’ consistent. Nothin’ too much that I love-love but tha undaground quality’s here… Lookin’ at a 3.9 for tha CD rating, so far; let’s see how it continues…

08. “Digging On You, Digging On Me” feat. Ruda Real
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> An okay sound, here; an R&B hook, which ain’t that bad… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it aight, fa a song fa tha ladies… As tha 2nd verse iz playin’, I feel like it’s soundin’ like a mission fa success; gotta keep it goin’… Also, we got a long-soundin’ ending, here… My Rating: 3.1

09. “Stepping With My Weapon” feat. L S Drugz
Producer: G-Money
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ beginning/1st verse & beat, here; nice shit… Tha hook sounds good fa tha streetz, here, as this shit continues… Continuin’ on wit tha 2nd verse, soundin’ good wit tha consistent rhymes & street content… My Rating: 4.1

10. “Story Teller” feat. L S Drugz
Producer: G-Money
>>> Sounds like a good lil’ beat, as well as soundin’ like an interlude? Well, after about 50 seconds, here comes tha 1st verse, soundin’ like a good lil’ laidback vibe… Tha rest of this shit sounds pretty good/laidback; I’ll give it a decent amount of props… My Rating: 3.8

11. “Jackers Die” feat. Dowcie, L S Drugz, Shogun, Troop & Gangsta Glock
Producer: G-Money
>>> Some good G-Funk in tha production, here, as well as what y’all got goin’ on, durin’ tha 1st verse…! Oh, tha “5-0;” I don’t even wanna hear about any of ‘em, with everything goin’ on, right now! It just feels like continuous haunting! Hearin’ tha hook and it sounds good; yeah, they’ll “take” everything! Gotta fight to get tha freedom back…! Hearin’ tha 2nd verse and it’s soundin’ pretty nice, here; “we ain’t takin’ no slacks!” Got tha 3rd verse, here, with tha tight aggression, once again! Dowcie knows how ta deliver it! Mystikal really paved tha way fa these dudes and it’s definitely a plus! Likin’ how his verse goes on fa a while/longer than tha previous verses! Hearin’ tha 4th verse and, oh, them “crooked-ass” you-know-whos! Nails on a chalkboard!! Good rhymes, tho; gotta keep it on-n-poppin’! My Rating: 4.0

12. “Welcome To The Boot” feat. Gangsta Black
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Anotha laidback/ghetto vibe fa tha ‘90s, here, soundin’ good… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and I’m feelin’ it for tha streetz, here; good shit. Hearin’ tha hook and it transitions in a calm way; prolly coulda been a lil’ harder? It still str8, tho… Got tha 2nd verse goin’ on, here, soundin’ good fa tha streetz, as well; keep it goin’…! Keepin’ it movin’ wit a 3rd verse, here, soundin’ pretty nice; streetz, streetz, streetz! My Rating: 3.8

13. “Ghetto Drama (Remix)” feat. Ruda Real
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Sounds a lil’ betta wit tha production, this time… I’m likin’ tha hook betta, this time, as it’s more to tha G-Funk sound than all tha heavy singin’… My Rating: 3.7

14. “Test My Skills” feat. Gangsta Glock, L S Drugz & Yaphette
Producer: G-Money
>>> Sounds like anotha good lil’ track. Most of these tracks have tha same, semi-dry vibe to ‘em, when it comes to tha production. Tha flows are mainly at a regular pace, while there’s some singin’ & aggression. This collab sounds good, includin’ tha chick that raps; feelin’ tha undaground/dark vibe, of course… Even tho a regular-soundin’ flow, I’m diggin’ tha dude that comes through after tha chick, here; consistent lines…! Seems like a long track, once again; a lil’ too long, wit some of these? My Rating: 3.5

15. Outro
>>> Nice lil’ beat from an uncredited producer, here; sounds good wit tha outro, too… My Rating: N/A

Overall: Mainly a decent vibe, tho tha ratings proved to be a lil’ above-average wit tha sound, here… Some of your features helped out wit tha switch-up of flow styles but we’ll see how you do wit tha follow-up CD, comin’ up next!
