Review #1,874: Lil' Soldiers "Boot Camp"

Reviewed on 12.16.2019 (Review #1,874)

Keepin’ this shit goin’, here goes my review for Lil’ Soldiers Boot Camp, released in 1999 on No Limit Records & Priority Records… Start Time: 4:30 PM | End Time: 5:10 PM

Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Soulja Style” feat. Magic
Producer: Ke’noe
>>> Can’t imagine how young y’all gon sound on here… Hearin’ tha 1st verse and it sounds good. I’m not too with tha kid style of rappin’, these dayz; I’ll just give props fa how tha beats & how this sounds, overall… Tha hook sounds kinda good wit this “Soulja Style” perspective; nice… Magic on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit some nice shit fa you Soldiers, here… OMG, that screamin’ of y’all toward tha end of tha 2nd verse; so corny…!! My Rating: 3.5

02. “Where The Little Souljas At?”
Producer: Craig B
>>> Beat ain’t too bad, tho this sounds cheesy… I guess, good job fa reppin’, at least… My Rating: 2.8

03. “Tank In My Head” feat. Mia X
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Mia on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ good on this laidback beat… As far as y’all Soldiers, y’all sound okay, tho cheesy on this… My Rating: 3.1

04. “I Ain’t Livin’ Right” feat. Ghetto Commission
Producer: Carlos Stephens
>>> Ghetto Commission on tha 1st verse, here, soundin’ nice; literally, this sounds like regular southern rap! No need fa tha youngins, so far…! Got mo Commission fa tha 2nd verse, here, soundin’ nice; so far, so nice… Y’all are on tha 3rd verse, here, soundin’ okay, tho I don’t prioritize it… My Rating: 3.9

05. “Close 2 You” feat. Mo B. Dick
Producer: Carlos Stephens & Mo B. Dick
>>> “I’m seven, now; when I’m ten, I gon cop you a Benz;” like, fa’real? I’ono how I can take this that serious… This one ain’t really fa me, overall; nice lil’ singin’ from Mo B, tho. My Rating: 2.1

06. “School On Lock”
Producer: Supreme Nyborn
>>> Sounds like a good anthem fa “school,” here; not bad, tho cheesy, as always… My Rating: 3.0

07. “Get Up”
Producer: Craig B
>>> Beat sounds okay/jammin’, here… As far as this song, overall, cheesy but a lil’ anthemic… My Rating: 2.9

08. “Mama Need A New Blouse” feat. Short Circuit
Producer: KLC
>>> Short Circuit’s y’all dad, I see, accordin’ ta Discogs? As far as this track, it sounds cheesy; not really any feedback ta give… My Rating: 2.5

½time: A 3.0-rated CD, so far; just not in tha mood fa lil’ kids, right nah…

09. “School Yard Battlin’”
Producer: Supreme Nyborn
>>> Beat’s kinda non-Louisiana-soundin’; cheesy lil’ battle, here? Nothin’ to really comment on… My Rating: 2.2

10. “Chipped-Out Tank”
Producer: KLC
This CD’s startin’ ta irritate me; I finna just rush it, now… >>> Beat not bad, here… I don’t see a spark for a “Chipped-Out Tank,” overall… My Rating: 1.9

11. “For My Shorties” feat. Fiend
Producer: Carlos Stephens & KLC
>>> Fiend sounds nice, here, wit this beat; even “saggin’” on ‘em, in a thugged-out way, fa these Soldiers! Good shit, as far as Fiend on tha beat goes… Y’all sound ehh, wit y’all young rappin’… My Rating: 3.3

12. “Close 2 A Bomb”
Producer: O’Dell
>>> Beat’s a nice lil’ G-Funk sound, though that hook wit tha “on & on & on & on” shit sounds corny… My Rating: 2.7

13. “Best In The World” feat. Powerful, KK & Keith
Producer: Powerful
>>> No interest; calm beat & random reggae-soundin’ background vocals, here… My Rating: 1.5

14. “Soulja By Blood”
Producer: KLC
>>> Beat’s kinda cool from KL, here… I like tha content of tha “soulja,” here; that’s all I gon say. My Rating: 2.6

15. “Bring It 2 You”
Producer: KLC
>>> Just sounds like your ‘90s, kiddy-rap track; ehh… My Rating: 1.4

16. “Okey Dokey” feat. O’Dell
Producer: Carlos Stephens & O’Dell
>>> Corny! Why a hook wit this title? My Rating: 1.1

17. “Shout It Out” feat. Young Gunz
Producer: Carlos Stephens & O’Dell
Not tha same Young Gunz from Philly, tho… >>> Sounds like a bunny or some spring jumpin’, in tha beat? Weird… As far as y’all, bleh… Tha Young Guns (Reginelli & Melchoir), they sound okay; I’m feelin’ them, a lil’… My Rating: 2.6

Overall: Not for me, at all; rather hear adults, of course!
