Shit, it Frankie here. Man, what a fucked up day! It all started positively wit my boy B-Raw callin’ me at 8:30 AM (where I’m at), waking me up. That started tha day off NICE, until my 40 year-old aunt Susie came over (which I almost wanted her not to stop by). She needed tha back and battery to my brother’s old cell-phone (that doesn’t work). After a few minutes, in a RAGE, she threw tha cell-phone 50 MPH at tha dining room wall (nearly hittin’ my mom, grandma, lil’ brother, and almost myself (if I didn’t move from tha computer)), and causing an upset uproar. Tha shit was nuts, and I’m glad it’s over wit. After that, hours later, my 19 year-old brother iz comin’ off of Xanex, crying to me on tha phone. WTF? He’s like, “I want you to be my friend. I want to hang out wit you.” Shit, at least my boyz (that I talk to) that do pills and shit aren’t like that. My brother’s too depressed at times, and I don’t know what tha fuck goes through his brain all tha time. Now, review time! Here goes tha final 1987 review: Gregory D & DJ Mannie Fresh “Throwdown”! Start Time: 10:58 PM | End Time: 11:36 PM | Video Game Playing: Tetris Attack (for Super Nintendo)
Disclaimer: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me or have auto-tune in your vocals, I’m not buyin’ it!

01. “Freddie’s Back”
LOL, that’s my stepdad’s name, and he ain’t “back” from work yet, lol. He comes home 12:30 AM. Let’s see how we finna start this shit off… >>> Wow, I didn’t expect a fast type of Dancey beat, lol! Nice 1st verse right there, as it gave a nice 80’s feel! Not bad on tha 2nd verse too. Oh wow, iz that Mannie at 2:26? LOL… Good job. Decent raps for “Freddie” here. Tha rest sounded pretty nice too. LOL @ tha Salt N Pepa sample around 4:38! I like tha “New Orleans” sample part at tha near-end too! My Rating: 3.7
02. “Monster Boogie”
Will this sound faster? >>> Tha beat iz about tha same tempo (maybe a lil’ slower). I like tha beat here, and tha 1st verse seemed interesting about tha kid and “Monster Boogie”! Tha 2nd verse was not bad too, as it was for Hermin, lol (at that name)! Hearin’ tha 3rd verse… WTF @ “Eddy, that’s okay if you’re gay?” Odd… Tha 4th verse was okay, and now, tha 5th verse… I like that “rewind, flashback of all times” part. Good job, Mannie, on tha 5th verse! Good mixin’, and although odd about tha “gay” part in tha 3rd verse, it turned out to be a pretty good joint. My Rating: 3.9
03. “Rock Rap”
A lil’ fusion here? I wanna hear it! >>> Good intro, and interesting beat that sounds watered down! Good job on tha 1st verse wit tha description of tha title! I hear Gary Numan’s “Cars” in tha background (sample) before tha 2nd verse; cool. Just hearin’ that sample made me wanna think it was tha “Walk This Way” beat at first (what y’all were gonna rap on), but I don’t believe in jacked beats around this time. Anyway, 2nd verse sounded decent. Now, I hear that sample that was used in tha beginning of Mobb Deep’s “Got It Twisted” before tha 3rd verse! Tha 3rd verse sounded nice and listenable too. Anotha sample after tha 3rd verse this time… LOL, tha “Cars” sample iz back at 3:53! I give props to this joint; nice and catchy! My Rating: 4.1
04. “Bust Down (Y’all)”
A long one (nearly 5.5 minutes long)… I predict that it might be stale, but I could be wrong… >>> No intro here, lol! Sounds like more samplin’ in tha beginning… Greg, you’re up first… Good, and I’m hearin’ lots of different samples goin’ on. Verses are soundin’ consistent for this style… Wow, look at that 4th verse goin’ on!! Tha rappin’ iz faster, and sounds GREAT! Shit, it was so short… Wait, there’s a 5th one (continuing) goin’ on here! REAL GREAT for this time, and dude’s just GOIN’ OFF wit this shit!!! Yes, there’s still anotha minute, 10 seconds left!! Wow, REAL GREAT ending verses to this song!! SHIIIT, THIS IZ STILL GOIN’ ON!!! At about 4:55, there was MORE MADNESS!!! My Rating: 4.6
½time: Lookin’ pretty good so far, or should I say that each song iz gettin’ better! Great style, and it’s cool to see what Mannie was before tha Big Tymers dayz!
05. “Throwdown”
A title track here along with tha good length (a lil’ ova 4.5 minutes)! Hope y’all “throw” it [tha track] “down” right chea!! >>> Sounds like a good start, and when tha chorus comes (wit tha “When I Hear Music” beat sample), as well as there bein’ a chorus, it sounded NICE! LOL @ Mannie Fresh comin’ in tha middle of nowhere, no less startin’ off tha 3rd verse! He gon “stick people with a needle!” Nice job there. LOL @ tha Salt N Pepa sample again, betta yet, like multiple samples per every few seconds! LMAO @ 3:24: “I need a beat I can jerk on;” huh? Crazy shit! I’m likin’ Mannie Fresh’s sound effects of scratchin’ tha turntables! He still a fool wit that shit today! My Rating: 4.0
06. “One Monday Morning”
That’ll be tomorrow, LMAO! >>> Cool start wit tha “I’m tha polo man” and tha “took off my durag” part. Thumbs up to that shit back in ’87! Good job on tha verse, and lol @ tha gurl on this. Nothin’ else to really say, but tha rappin’ stayed good, as well as this joint just remindin’ me of goin’ to school in tha REAL old dayz! My Rating: 3.5
07. “Club Style”
How y’all version of “club style” music sound on this CD? >>> Sounds more Summerish than clubish. Soundin’ good, and I like tha “like a baby in tha hot tub” part at 1:33 around. I expected more upbeat for a “club style” song, especially puttin’ “club” in your title. Good “Pump Up The Volume” samples, and LMFAO @ “Da Butt” samples!!!!! That dance was tha SHIT (according to when I watched it on VH1’s “Greatest One Hit Wonders Of The 80’s”)!! Amanda Diva was “doin da butt,” and just hearin’ them say, “doin’ tha butt;” that shit iz LOLable!!! My Rating: 3.3
08. “Never 4-Get Where I Come From”
I know, I know: New Orleans, ya dig!! Let’s see if y’all made this into an anthem… >>> Not bad… Thumbs up to that “extra push” part, and I like tha “from Louisiana” part; YEAH, LOUISIANA!!!!! I’m slowly tryin’ to feel this. Tha hook iz GREAT!! Mannie on tha 2nd verse, and he just reppin’ all dat Louisiana shit! I’m gettin’ real tired right now, but tha review iz almost over. That hook iz on some TIGHT shit!! My Rating: 4.2
09. “Women Ain’t Stupid”
That’s right, and how will this ending song come across to why they “aint”! >>> LMAO @ just goin’ into tha title/hook! I don’t know what to say about this one… There’s really nothin’ spectacular about this one, although I’m hearin’ tha ending wit tha “knocking on tha door” part, lol. Shit, they’re sayin’ “brah” in this? I know people gon trash me fa this one, but I wonder how long tha term “brah” has been said a lot ‘cause as soon as my Louisiana connection came about wit Jimmy The DJ, tha term “brah/bruh” became quite tha term to use! My Rating: 2.9
Overall: Well, it ended. Not bad for this CD. Sounded like tha beats were nothin’ special (except for tha vibe a lil’), but tha rhymes were consistent, as I couldn’t get away from them if I tried. I got like 2 more CDs from tha 2 of y’all together, so who knows when I’ll review those as well!
