Review #1,979: Cash Money Millionaires "Baller Blockin' Soundtrack"

Reviewed on 6.03.2021 (Review #1,979)

As my reviewz continue, I’m tryna keep my neck in check, as I review from my bed… Up next, here goes my review for Cash Money Millionaires Baller Blockin’ Soundtrack, released in 2000 on Cash Money Records & Universal Records! Start Tyme: 4:12 PM | End Tyme: 5:01 PM

Disclaimer:
I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion! I only please myself wit my ratings! I don’t care how lyrical you are, as long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much really love it, as it’s considered mindblowin’ when I hear it! Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song; anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it. If you sound like anything too mainstream for me, have auto-tune in your vocals, or talk about nothin’ but money (which I consider ‘typical’ topics), I’m not buyin’ it!

01. Lovely & Atrice “Intro”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Nice lil’ upbeat beat, here; great job with tha intro, y’all (it says “Lovely & Atrice” but it’s Big Tymers, here)… Long, as it’s 4:24 on tha length; sounds more like an outro? My Rating: N/A

02. Turk, Baby & Juvenile feat. E-40 “Baller Blockin’”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Sounds like a dope track; feelin’ what Turk got on tha 1st verse, here, as well as Fresh on tha beat! Hearin’ tha hook from Turk, too, wantin’ tha ballin’ to stay alive, 24/7! Keepin’ it goin’ with Baby on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through wit his steez; glad he holdin’ tha track down, too… Now, on tha 3rd verse, we got E-Fizzle, comin’ through with that character needed ta make this entertainin’; awesome/unexpected contribution. Final verse (4th), here, iz Juvie, comin’ through with nice shit fa tha Cash Money peeps; good job reppin’…! My Rating: 4.2

03. UGK “Family Affair”
Producer: Pimp C
>>> A slower-soundin’ track from tha Pimp, here; not bad with tha laidback sound & Pimp on tha beginning, here… I know I seem lazy to review non-Louisiana music, so I just gon keep it quick with tha non-Louisiana ones… Bun B contributes that good, southern shit, as well; props fa UGK fa keepin’ it movin’ in tha 2000… My Rating: 3.8

04. Juvenile “Rover Truck”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Sounds nice with Juvie on this; beat’s good for tha hood & Juvie’s focus on tha constant delivery sounds great ta hear… Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds a lil’ humorous vs. hood-cool with tha “bruh” parts; go, Juvie…! Keepin’ this movin’ with Juvie comin’ through fa Verse 2, soundin’ good with how he depicts this hood story… Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, too & Juvie keeps this shit poppin’; tha “truck” ridin’ through…! My Rating: 4.0

05. Ziggy “Big Chief (Skit)”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
Oh boy, Ziggy!! >>> Tha same skit from tha Big Tymers disc? Sounds good, still, as he’s disinfectin’ err-where…! My Rating: N/A

06. Big Tymers, Lil’ Wayne & Juvenile “Project Bitch”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
Lol, feels funny ta review dis… Of course, tha beat has buku catchiness to it, as well as Weezy goin’, “What…?! What…?!” in tha background; gotta luv it! Luved it when I was 12 & I’m happy it had its tyme, back in 2000! Fresh does an awesome job with tha catchiness on tha 1st verse & then, Wayne comes through with tha awesome youngin flava for tha 2nd ½ of tha 1st verse; awesome sauce…! Also, Juvie on tha hook & tha way that he made tha “project” bitches come together fa this track & its mainstream audiences iz incredible. Hearin’ him on tha 2nd verse, now & I can’t believe how raunchy he was, to where mainstream respected this! Totally locked into tha projects! Of course, endin’ with Birdman on tha 3rd verse, comin’ through wit his catchiness that I respected from back 21 years ago; thumbs-tha-fuck-up! My Current Rating: 4.8

07. 8Ball & MJG “Ballin’ Gs”
>>> A nice-soundin’ dark track from these boyz, here; good lil’ contribution ta this Cash Money compilation. Tha hook sounds catchy with how they “ballin’” like tha “Gs” we know ‘em as; great energy… My Rating: 4.1

08. B.G. “Thugged Out”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Sounds good wit how B.G. comin’ through on this slower beat from Fresh’s 1st verse, here; keep spittin’ dat gangsta shit…! Hearin’ tha hook & it sounds good with how tha baby gangsta makes tha “Thugged Out” perspective sound catchy fa tha earz, here; good shit! Now, on to tha 2nd verse & B.G. keepin’ it street/100 with tha continued content; gotta respect it! Keepin’ it movin’ with tha 3rd verse, as well, comin’ through with an okay verse; seems like it’s draggin’ a lil’, due to this slow production… My Rating: 3.9

09. Unplugged “Don’t Cry”
Producer: Stormy Day
>>> This sounds like a track I’m just gonna breeze by… Already :37 in & I just heard whiny vocals, over a slow beat… Yeah, this on tha R&B tip; I’m just gonna skip it, since it’s not for me. My Rating: 1.0

½tyme: Tha Louisiana shit seems nice ta hear but I’ono about tha non-Louisiana shit, especially tha R&B shit… Either way, tha average rating for this release iz at a 3.7, currently.

10. Nas & Bravehearts “What You Gonna Do”
>>> Odd to see these boyz on here…; sounds like a catchy lil’ hook that’s outta Nas’ element? Gives me a lil’ bit of a less-catchier version of “Oochie Wally”’s vibes; good goin’, y’all. My Rating: 3.6

11. Lil’ Wayne “Calling Me Killer”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Glad Fresh iz back to producin’ a more upbeat beat, here…! Hearin’ Wayne on tha hook & it sounds okay ta hear; sounds catchy with how he delivers it… Hearin’ tha 1st verse & it sounds dope ta hear him as a teen, still! Sounds real young on tha mic, here; cool but yeah, a lil’ bit of younger sound equals more of a mainstream perspective? Keepin’ this movin’ & at tymes, it sounds good with tha street shit but I feel like I can’t appreciate his voice that much in this. Like, where’s tha title/hook part? Just seems like a bunch of braggin’ about gangsta shit, here… A whole 4:22 on tha length seems rough, here… Finally, a hook again, as tha track slowly gets closer to endin’… My Rating: 3.5

12. TQ “I Got To Go”
Producer: Livin’ Proof & TQ
>>> Thought I woulda liked TQ a lil’ betta, especially after his success on Wayne’s “Way Of Life” track. However, these dayz, now, I want Louisiana rap! Can’t really fw this R&B shit, even tho it has a lil’ bit of a hip-hop feel to it. Just seems like a decent R&B track; nothin’ I can say about it… My Rating: 2.0

13. Baby, Lac & Stone “Whatever”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Beat from Fresh sounds cool, even tho it sounds a lil’ slow & dry, at tymes… Baby on tha 1st verse, here, comin’ through with an okay verse; I’ll give him some props… After Baby’s verse, it seems like this iz draggin’ & I’m zonin’ away from bein’ interested in it… With that bein’ said, lemme try & stay focused… Got Lac on tha 2nd verse, here, comin’ through with an okay verse; nothin’ really much to focus on it, tho. With tha Stone dude on tha 3rd verse, his slang may be cool but it’s still a dry verse… Even more Baby on tha 3rd verse, as well? I feel like I don’t have that much interest, anymore; track sounds too dry… My Rating: 2.6

14. Big Tymers, Turk & B.G. “Let Us Stunt”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Sounds like tha Mannie Fresh beats I’m used to, with this Cash Money sound; good shit, Fresh! Hearin’ tha 1st verse from Baby & it’s soundin’ good; I give him props fa blendin’ in with this beat… Hearin’ tha hook from Turk & it sounds pretty dope with that non-stop mixin’; gotta luv Mannie! Luv tha influence he sheds on DJ B Real…! Keepin’ this movin’ with B Gizzle on tha 2nd verse & it sounds good; props fa always reppin’ tha hood, B.G.! Keepin’ it movin’ with tha star producer on tha 3rd verse (Mannie), comin’ through with his consistent Cash Money sound, on tha mic; keep gettin’ it in! Luv tha extended hook on tha 3rd hook, as well!! My Rating: 4.6

15. Ziggy “Skit”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Catchy lil’ background beat & I always appreciate tha aggression from Ziggy, here…! Took a trip to Jamaica with that accent, here? I guess so… My Rating: N/A

16. Mack 10 & The Comrads “Milk & Honey”
>>> A lil’ slow from tha pace I was expectin’ fa this compilation… Sounds like a cheesy hook; like, I luv how Mack 10 just throws tha title out, outta nowhere! Tha rest of this kinda drags; more meant for tha west than tha 504? My Rating: 2.3

17. Turk feat. B.G. “Uptown”
Producer: Mannie Fresh
>>> Sounds good with how Turk comes through with tha 1st verse, even tho it’s a slower Fresh beat, again… Hearin’ tha hook & I luv how an uncredited B.G. appears! Still, it sounds like a good lil’ “Uptown” anthem fa tha streetz, here; good shit, B Gizzle! Hearin’ Turk on tha 2nd verse & it still sounds good, despite it bein’ a slower vibe…; streetz of 2000 continue to be on lock…! Keepin’ this movin’ with Turk on tha 3rd verse, here, comin’ through wit some mo shit ta enjoy fa tha streetz; good, Turk! Good…! My Rating: 4.2

18. Unplugged feat. Lil’ Wayne “Don’t Know”
Producer: Stormy Day
>>> Just skipped to Lil’ Wayne’s part, since I ain’t even interested in tha R&B singin’. Hearin’ Wayne come through & it sounds good with tha shit he bringin’ to tha party; beat also nice and faster, too… As far as tha R&B shit, itself, at least it’s a lil’ more lively than tha previous Unplugged track! My Rating: 2.2

19. Rappin’ 4-Tay “Win Or Lose”
Producer: Massive
>>> Not too sure of this dude but it sounds more like a West Coast dude; beat’s a lil’ dry & yeah, this seems non-Louisiana fa me. Tha rhymes ain’t bad but I can’t dig ‘em much… Hearin’ tha hook & it aight; a lil’ quiet but it’s delivered in a West Coast way. My Rating: 1.9

Overall: Seemed like a rollercoaster, when it came to this soundtrack. Shoulda just focused on just Cash Money artists and/or strictly Louisiana artists. Didn’t really need to have tha non-Louisiana artists; tha ratings also went sour with tha R&B shit, too.
