Thought I took a break, huh? Shit no!! Got my 14th review for today: Marcel P. Black, Maroon Music in tha buildin’, “1Luv: A Hate Story EP”! Start Time: 11:28 PM | End Time: 11:42 PM
Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Luv/Hate (Intro)” Feat. Radio Raheem & Mookie
>>> I like tha Public Enemy music in tha background; good choice, lol. Good job wit tha radio intro and now, let’s hear dis song… Tha production iz decent; let’s hear what you got, P: Okay, good attitude, here, wit tha “middle fingers.” Good job representin’ fa your people and those that passed away. I thought Mookie was gonna be Mookie Blakk? Guess he was in tha intro ‘cause it’s mainly you rappin’. My Rating: 4.2
02. “Meche & Jamal”
>>> If my gurl Alexia interviewed you, she’d prolly say, “aw man, he iz so good,” lol; too bad she’d have ta be in person wit you. Anyway, tha production’s nice, here, and tha rhymes are good, too; a day in a life of Marcel P. Black, here, early 2011 style! Nice job wit this story; glad it ain’t boring, either. My Rating: 3.9
03. “iLuv H.E.R.”
>>> Iz Common’s song gonna appear or somethin’? Sounds more on your tip, original style. Tha rhymes are good and entertainin’ wit your voice, here; nice job wit anotha story! Tha hook’s decent; good motivation, here. My Rating: 3.6
½time: Only three songs from you, so far, and tha CD rating’s at a 3.9, currently.
04. “1Luv”
Somewhat-title track, here. >>> Beat’s good for you and this sounds good; I like this betta than tha “iLuv H.E.R.” joint. Tha hook’s a nice representation of Louisiana; gotta show “luv,” ya dig? My Rating: 3.8
05. “Nigerian Hair” Feat. LB
L.B. from Word Of South, lol? Let’s see dis Weezy-lookin’ title… >>> Tha beat’s a lil’ betta, here, and you’re keepin’ shit on ‘n’ poppin’ wit how you deliver shit and tha way this joint sounds. Thought tha hook would be a simple, Weezy sample—oh, neva mind, here it iz, lol. Yea, unlike havin’ tha whole hook as tha sample, at least you had a catchy 1st ½ of tha hook and had a lil’ bit of Wayne on tha sample, too; good job! Glad you keepin’ shit on ‘n’ poppin’ wit tha “Nigerian” shit, lol. LB’s on tha 3rd verse and I don’t think this iz tha L.B. from Word Of South, hence tha no periods in his name. Not bad wit tha rappin’, here; you’re a lil’ betta, P. My Rating: 4.2
06. “Bridging The Gap” Feat. Luke St. John & Truth Universal
>>> LOL, tha intro iz tha same lil’ thing (tha radio sound) dat one of tha radio DJs used for his radio show promo. LOL, I was waitin’ for tha “crazy” shit he was gonna say, lol! Anyway, not too much interest in dat random voice in tha intro but at least tha rappin’ iz soundin’ good on tha 1st verse; nice job. Ooh, tha hook has mixin’—New York style—in it, like back in tha day; thumbs up. You’re on tha 2nd verse and you keepin’ tha facts comin’! Definitely feelin’ your flow on here; you definitely have entertainment wit what you come through wit, ya dig? Ya feel me? Tha 3rd verse sounds good, too; more, great rhymes! My Rating: 4.1
07. “Goodbye (Outro)”
>>> Ooh, I like how tha beat’s creepin’ up and I like how dis sounds! Are you gonna rap on this? Kinda anticipated wit dis beat goin’ on… Okay, good, at :47, tha rappin’ starts! BTW, tha intro was nice; you kept me in-tune, thanx to this beat! Rhymes are hella consistent and surprisingly, lol, this’ll be topping my rankings from this CD; who would’ve guessed? Very consistent shit, here! My Rating: 4.4
Overall: Thumbs up fa puttin’ anotha EP out, bruh!
