Review #924: DJ Ya Boy Earl Presents "Real Street"

Reviewed on 3.30.2011 (Review #924)

Here’s a CD I got ta review: DJ Ya Boy Earl Presents “Real Street! Not sure of any of which artists are individually on songs so I’ll have ta use what’s listed on DatPiff’s artist name for help. Start Time: 11:52 AM | End Time: 12:20 PM

Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Swag It Out”
SMH @ a starting song wit dis title? >>> Already startin’ wit “I’m A Grinder” in tha beginning so I know I won’t look forward ta dis… Damn, you’re on tha intro, Earl? Damn, bad song, overall; what tha hell iz this shit? Not my generation! I don’t get down wit tha obsession of tha word “swag;” sounds like tha new word for ‘dick’ ‘cause of how gay it iz? My Rating: 1.6

02. “What Ya Think About It”
>>> Ooh, La’Keith on tha beat wit dat beat tag of his? Glad you’re on tha intro of dis ‘cause it’s definitely good ta give props ta La’Keith! Gotta get adapted to tha hook afta dat gay song, previously, but it’s soundin’ good, so far…; who are these mysterious rappers? Wish there would be better descriptions (and a front/back cover) on this CD! My Rating: 3.7

03. “Chill Out”
>>> “Real Street Entertainment”? “D Black, Lady Red”? Glad there’s some artists identified, here. This sounds more interestin’, even though my interest iz a lil’ low…; likin’ this hook wit tha “chill out” shit. LOL, here’s—who I assume—Lady Red on tha 1st verse and damn, perfect attitude wit a gutta, real-Southern sound, here!!! Tha 2nd verse from D Black, a.k.a. Young D, sounds good; glad this iz slowly improvin’! My Rating: 4.3

04. “We In Here”
>>> Who’s beat tag iz “you know how we do”? Think this iz tha 2nd one in a row like dis… Anyway, hear tha beat slowly gettin’ tight toward :25! Accordin’ to tha people on tha artist name on DatPiff, this must be Ghost rappin’; sounds good wit tha consistent, jungle-type rhymes! Someone else iz on tha 2nd verse; not sure who it iz, unfortunately. Ooh, Young D on tha 3rd verse? Afta listenin’ back ‘n’ forth, I think tha three that are on here are Relly Rell, Ghost & D Black a.k.a. Young D! My Rating: 4.2

05. “Fuck Da World”
>>> Tha same beat tag in tha beginning; might add them to tha tight producers list! Young D, again? Lookin’ forward on dis beat… Sounds good wit this attitude and title, lol! Wit all tha shit, here, overall, I’m likin’ tha content and these good, laidback-soundin’ verses from these not-too-known rappers! My Rating: 4.4

06. “Grind All Day”
>>> Yes, tha same beat tag wit you in tha intro, lol! Tha hook sounds good, here; beat’s definitely on ‘n’ poppin’!! I like how every song iz hella-long, too, lol! Nice job wit all tha verses, here; y’all (Ghost, Alias Runn, D Black a.k.a. Young D, Relly Rell, Lady Red & Level) must all be family? My Rating: 4.2

07. “What Would You Give Me”
>>> ROFL @ tha beat tag never soundin’ different (like a beat behind it or somethin’); I always feel dat people dat use beat tags are a lil’ insecure. It’s like, they need it ta be on there, kinda in an Autistic way. LOL, and I’m tha Autistic one that doesn’t use beat tags, lol! Good job wit tha hook and this catchy-ass beat, too! Some of tha 1st verse sounds like A-Tune? A lil’ gay but luckily, it’s not that noticeable! Tha rest of this shit sounds good, too… Damn, tha 3rd verse sounds like suckin’ dick; why? That’s not tha way ta do it! Would’ve rated 4.2 but then, 4.1, and now, lower. My Rating: 3.6

08. “Learn Ta Live”
>>> LOL, Relly Rell doin’ tha beat this time? ROFL @ these beat tags and how they’re required! I don’t even think tha group up here that I fuck wit uses beat tags; don’t even think it’s in their thoughts. But, tha beat, of course, iz definitely nice and catchy fa tha 225, here; likin’ what y’all bring to tha table! This sounds much betta wit tha more-grown-up vocals, here, not thinkin’ of gay-ass, “I-only-live-in-2000’s-and-beyond” A-Tune! Nice job wit tha remainin’ verses, too! My Rating: 4.0

½time: A coupla slips but overall, lots of great beats and tracks for not-too-known artists! Currently, a 3.8-rated CD.

09. “I’m Sorry”
>>> Should’ve known this was gay based off tha title! Where’s tha A-Tune, here? Prolly could’ve used it! My Rating: 2.3

10. “Gangsta Boo”
>>> Damn, this iz even gayer!! My Rating: 1.3

11. “I Want You”
An extra space between “I” and “Want” in tha title. >>> That beat tag’s back! I think I ID’d it as Ghost’s beat tag, correct? Anyway, this ain’t fa me but this iz tha best outta tha three, so far. My Rating: 2.8

12. “I Ain’t Comin’ Back”
>>> Back ta Relly Rell on tha beat; rofl, was that Kevin Gates on tha tag? LOL… Why in tha hell would there be a beat tag fa somethin’ so soft; where’s tha tight production??? I’m not inta soft shit, unfortunately; I like my Rap shit tight! My Rating: 2.5

13. “Pray For Me”
>>> I knew tha title would ruin it! Lyrics are a lil’ betta but tha hook sounds horrible wit those vocals! My Rating: 1.9

14. “Dead & Gone”
>>> “Smell a hit;” are you sure? I don’t think tribute songs should be hits; maybe ending album cuts? Definitely not mixtape material, either. But, I will take some interest in this, especially since they said, “R.I.P. Big Marquise!” It’s about time this mixtape gained some life afta dat streak of wack-ass shit!! Pretty-good verses, overall. My Rating: 3.3

15. “Everybody”
>>> Did y’all name tha 2nd ½ of tha mixtape tha “soft” side or somethin’ ‘cause all of a sudden, every song, pretty much, on tha 2nd ½ of tha CD, iz hella-wack!! Anyway, too much A-Tune; not even takin’ a chance since I don’t suck dick! My Rating: 1.0

16. “DJ Earl’s Chicken & Watermelon” feat. Level
Named afta DJ Earl’s infamous, catchy sayin’? Let’s see… >>> Normal beat tag and normal beat, finally!! How many songs was this in a row? Damn, too many ta count!! Sounds like a cool anthem ta finally have “Chicken & Watermelon” come out on a track! Verses are cool and I had a feelin’ Level would be on this joint, especially since all tha wack songs are done and tha last one might be wack, too, based off instincts of a final song! Nice contribution from Level, as always! My Rating: 4.2

17. Outro
>>> What was wit tha baby? Y’all even old enough fa one, yet? Heard a Ghost tag—just his name and not tha catchy part of tha tag. Thumbs up fa tha outro, Earl. My Rating: N/A

Overall: Unfortunately, I think y’all tied “Pyrex Radio Vol. 6” fa largest decrease in tha CD rating since tha ½ time. Started off gay, transformed inta somethin’ good and consistent. Then, really went downhill and later, picked up wit #16. Overall, tha score wasn’t too high but at least there’s some tight, new producers as well as artists!! Hope ta hear some betta shit from y’all, too!
