Broadcasting from Northeast PA, it's FrankieThaLuckyDog, reporting another loss in tha Louisiana Rap community. Walter McCallon, who was known as tha rapper/producer Tre-8, was in Algiers, Louisiana, when he got into a fatal car accident on May 28, 2011. In tha car were his spouse, daughter, two nieces, and nephew; he was tha only one that failed to survive. McCallon was active in tha New Orleans, Louisiana Rap scene: being a backup dancer and learning how to produce with producer/rapper, Ice Mike; being a part of tha group Westbank Coalition in 1993; going solo to become one of tha first artists to sign with Master P's No Limit Records label, which released his 1995 "Ghetto Stories"; appearing on various compilations throughout tha South; working for South Coast Music Group; forming his own labels, Smoke 1 Records and Purple Haze Productions; and releasing music with Houston, Texas group, Dem Haze Boyz. If McCallon lived 'til July 16, he would've turned 37 years old (online sources say he already was 37, which iz FALSE; Ice Mike confirmed to me on tha phone that he died at 36).
