Reviewed on 12.28.2010 (Review #779)
Damn, I’m up to my 99th review of tha month; keepin’ tha record goin’!! I did 97 reviewz in an 11-day period (excluding Christmas, where I did zero); that’s crazy!!! Here it iz: Thrilla “Gotta Get It Mixtape Vol. 1”! Start Time: 10:17 AM | End Time: 11:13 AM
Quick Note: I rate each song from 1.0 – 5.0; each rating iz my own opinion!! I only please myself wit my ratings!! I don’t care how lyrical you are! As long as it’s jammin’ enough for me to like it! I look for beats, then vocals, and then lyrics. To determine my favorites, I will differ tha 4.0 ratings. If a song gets at least a 4.0 rating from me, I love it already. If at least a 4.6 rating, I pretty much REALLY LOVE it as it’s considered “mindblowin’” when I hear it. Any song can earn up to a maximum of a 5.0 rating. Anything I type before “ >>> ” iz what I’m sayin’ before I listen to tha song. Anything after I type “ >>> ” iz what I think of tha song while I’m listening to it.

01. “Bitch-Ass Nigga” Feat. Lil’ Mook & JB
Glad there’s newbies on tha feature… >>> LOL, this beat takes me back… It reminds me of tha ’07 – ’08 dayz when I first got inta Louisiana music and heard this beat fa tha 1st time! I can picture this bein’ that old, too. Definitely a good job wit your version; tight hook! LOL, what a tight, emerged 1st verse!! Tha 1st verse iz as gangsta as you can expect a verse; good shit!! Nice job from hearin’ Mook fa tha 1st verse! As for you on tha 2nd verse, you sound pretty hyped-up! Tha “pistol” part reminds me of your drug-dealin’ past (since you talk about sellin’ drugs in, I think, “I’m Moonin’”); consistent shit to tha fullest! My Rating: 4.6
02. “I’m Moonin’”
Speakin’ of, lol… I know it got remastered since my Spring/Summer 2009 version; lemme review tha updated version… >>> I thought it was cool ta have tha Gates part in tha beginning. Yea, I liked tha ’09 version betta; this just seems too energetic in tha voice, lol. I liked tha regular “I’m Moonin’” voice, too, from before. But, it’s still a good song, regardless. I had a funny feelin’ about playin’ dis shit on my radio show ‘cause of its title—I would think people (in tha area—knowin’ them) would take it tha wrong way. But, I don’t feel too bad about anything now ‘cause I do play a bunch of different kinda songs. LOL, tha start of tha 2nd verse sounds like different lyrics? Neva remembered it bein’ this dirty, lol! Completely different… Iz there room fa tha 3rd verse? Yea, and once again, sounded a touch betta before. Oh yea, it was just a bridge; thought it was a verse. LOL, no “drug dealin’” part in this one. Originally would’ve rated a 4.6 but this version gets a 4.2 from me. LOL, ending wit tha beat and then, randomly, tha “I show my ass off” part? Unexpected endin’. My Rating: 4.2
03. “Deep”
>>> Sounds like a different song you would bring. I guess this could come into play since you already have a kid at such a young age. Even though this iz a different apporach from you, it sounds pretty good since you get descriptive wit tha lyrics and not just, like, on a “fuck yo girl … I got so many hoes”-type level. Tha 2nd verse ain’t too bad, either. I thought there would be a 3rd verse? I guess not… My Rating: 3.9
04. “Ya Heard Me”
Good saying; how will it sound in a title? >>> LOL, a lil’ jacked-beat action here. Sounds good, on a gangsta tip. What’s it like havin’ “dat iron by [your] side”? Why would you engage in beef? “When I let [friends] in my car;” what iz dat like? How do you get to agree wit tha other person ta get them in your car? This iz good fa tha streetz; not too bad for a song overall. I like tha attitude brought inta this song as well as your past. LOL, tha title’s in tha background of tha hook? That’s different. My Rating: 4.0
05. “Let Us Thru” Feat. Ross
Anotha new joint fa me; let’s hear it. >>> Sounds like a Q-Red production, which iz pretty interestin’. Who are these random rappers on your CD? They sound anticipatin’. As far as tha beat helpin’, it makes tha hook sound hot, even though it’s delivered in a simple way. Tha voice sounds a lil’ lower here on tha hook… Ross’s on tha 1st verse, “2010” style… Not bad on tha verse; good ta have new artists here and there. Good thing you’re on tha 2nd verse; needed some entertainment and energy in tha voice fa this track. I’m feelin’ tha “drug”-related shit goin’ on, too; good shit, Thrilla! My Rating: 4.1
06. “Gas Station”
Your most-known song fa me, which iz classic! Let’s see what I gon say about it in tha review, lol. >>> Tha old, quality-soundin’, undaground-soundin’, beat-patterned Big Wayne on tha beat!! Interestin’ topic and you held it down throughout tha Summer of ’09 fa me, doin’ a nice job! Nice job wit tha catchy-ass content as well as tha flow, too, doin’ ya thang! Also, you had a double-winning moment back in September ’09 when I played your song and my aunt won $40 on a scratch-off. Minutes later, I had your song on again and I personally won $50 on a scratch-off (which currently iz my most-recent big winner)! You definitely know how ta handle dis beat!! ‘Preciate you discoverin’ me ‘round your birthday in ’09; that was somethin’! It was cool first talkin’ ta you but I dunno what happened… Even though I’m busy as fuck wit certain thangz, I still come through as far as answerin’ my phone and keepin’ in touch wit people. My Current Rating: 4.9
07. “Hood Made Me” Feat. Lil’ Boxx
Heard this a while back but lemme review it this time. >>> Sounds a lil’ quiet at first but yea, good hook fa whateva dat screwed voice iz. Boxx’s comin’ through on tha 1st verse, doin’ his thang. “9-to-5 trapper”? I’m questioned about dat; maybe it was in a different perspective and I caught it different. LOL @ your part in tha hook; sounds so random ta jump outta nowhere. You’re not too bad on tha 2nd verse; I dunno about all tha mainstream names… LOL, no Drake, lol? LOL @ tha 3rd verse: “prolly even got a lil’ stain on my boxers,” ROFL… That takes balls ta say somethin’ like dat, which I give you credit for. My Current Rating: 4.2
½time: You have yourself a 4.3-rated CD right now; pretty good job!!
08. “Private Dancer”
Let’s hear dis. >>> A lil’ longer on tha length and sounds pretty good on tha slow beat start. Tha hook sounds different; likin’ it… I could’ve sworn someone else had dis beat, which iz why it sounds familiar ta me. You’re doin’ a not-so-bad job on tha verse, though. Not-sourced 2nd verse? They don’t sound that impressive wit tha rappin’ but still, thumbs up fa havin’ anotha new artist come onto your CD! Back ta you on tha 3rd verse, soundin’ good. Again, you’re good wit tha descriptive lyrics. My Rating: 3.7
09. “Retarded”
>>> LOL, “Wipe Me Down” beat; how random and instant! Sounds good since you bring just about tha same energy ta tha hook! Damn, not this again: I had reviewed someone recently and they used this beat. But, what happened was every four bars, tha quality changed, smh… Not bad on tha 1st verse, though… You spelled “Daryll” on tha 2nd verse; I assume dat’s your name. Sounds good wit how you’re comin’ through on tha 2nd verse; not much ta say… “Blowin’ on dat sticky;” do you get creative wit it? Meanin’, video-tape yourself? Or, are you tha boring type? You’re keepin’ tha 3rd verse goin’, too. Even though good, I thought this was a lil’ too long… Should’ve been one or two minutes less. My Rating: 4.0
10. “City To City”
>>> Keepin’ it goin’ wit tha jacked beats, Bone Thugs style. You said you “wrote this at 14”? Your vocals sound a lil’ different, which gives me a ‘90s feel; good job here… “Got weed? Let’s smoke it up.” Wonder how everyone got inta kush? Tha hook sounds good; feelin’ tha double connections (e.g., “my hood ta yo hood”). Tha 2nd verse sounds like you’re goin’ through a struggle. I rememba when you told me that you were losin’ things in tha Summer of ’09. I feel dat you grew up too fast. I’m 22 and a ½ and I ain’t even close ta feelin’ grown-up. There’s so many things I’m still tryna achieve, like tryna make certain friends (even though I’m devoting dat to Louisiana) and goin’ places by myself (even though there’s no places to go). My Rating: 4.3
11. “No Mind”
>>> Sounds like a familiar beat. Damn, I dunno why I can’t think of what this original was when I first heard it. I guess ‘cause there was so much I heard back in tha day. Anyway, good, Baton Rouge-type shit! LOL, what’s dat voice in tha 1st verse and this iz exactly six minutes, lol? Good job wit whoeva dat was on tha 1st verse (why weren’t they sourced)… Here you are on tha 2nd verse, doin’ a good job wit your consistent thoughts. I like your attitude; it really helps, ya dig? LOL, that dude’s back on tha 3rd verse, doin’ his thang once again! Really feelin’ tha shit he bringin’ to tha table! “He got dem pillz in his body” and “get outta here! These bullets’ll devour him;” crazy shit! Damn, this iz still goin’! LOL, that mysterious dude on tha 4th verse, soundin’ betta than eva wit tha attitude, gangsta style!! My Rating: 4.3
12. “Why Me”
>>> Oh, God, “Many Men”… I dunno about tha 4:29 length but let’s see… Sounds like interestin’ shit from what has been happenin’ in your life. Pretty good; you even sound a lil’ younger in tha vocals, too. Soundin’ real young here… Tha hook’s pretty good fa a younger-Thrilla. That “master…” (couldn’t get tha full word) sounded random, includin’ where you mentioned dat you have “no time fa beatin’ [your] meat,” lol… You got tha balls ta express everything about you as well as what others could criticize; good shit! Tha 3rd verse sounds pretty good, too. “Got me smokin’, drinkin’, poppin’;” damn, I wonder what it’s like fa someone ta do all dat in one. “My uncle Willy;” I have an “uncle Willy;” too bad you lost yours. I didn’t realize he was in tha hook, too. My Rating: 3.8
13. “Antidote” Feat. Grind Squad
This iz tha oldest song of yours that I had saw in tha past. Haven’t heard in almost three years, lemme rehear it and give it a better review. >>> Oh, it was a Big Wayne beat tha whole time? Damn! Too bad I didn’t realize so much back then that this was some real tight music!!! At least I got ta hear it back in Winter ‘07/’08 and am givin’ it an official review now!! You’re soundin’ pretty hype on tha 1st verse, doin’ tha damn thang wit Wayne backin’ you up!! Tha 2nd verse iz pretty crazy; luvin’ tha 225 vocals and how they comin’ through wit it!!! Tha 3rd verse sounds good; “Young Hits”? This ain’t tha producer, iz it, lol? I can kinda picture him but I dunno if you even know him. Tha 2nd ½ of tha 3rd verse iz definitely nice, too! I know this was so unknown ta me back then but this iz definitely tha shit!! You know what it iz wit dat title, too; crazy shit!! My Current Rating: 4.8 (lol, that rating’s about a whole point more than back in ’08)
14. “Smokin’ & Drinkin’”
Tha final song; what do we got? >>> Almost five minutes long but sounds pretty nice on tha hook! Tha beat you chose iz definitely nice and tha hook iz 100! Tha 1st verse’s pretty good wit hearin’ more about your life; keep it goin’! Tha 2nd verse sounds like you have a future planned ta “rise to tha top.” SMH @ how you got “stopped” in tha 3rd verse; sounds pretty gay. People have tha most homosexual minds when they would shoot someone, smh. That’s tha gayest shit I’ve eva heard! Hopefully, this “phase” of guns dies out soon ‘cause it’s pretty homosexual to tha bone!! Good shit right here! You got tha jamz on lock! LOL, tha last 14 seconds were cut and went ta silence? My Rating: 4.5
Overall: Pretty-good CD you got here, Thrilla! I didn’t expect tha jacked-beat songs; you got a good future as far as music. Keep up tha great work…
